So three songs on fourteen last less than a minute, and the whole album would last 44 minutes if I'm right.

I think it's a conceptual album, the type of album that tells a complete story from end to beggining. All that short songs should be kind of connections/intermissions/interludes between the parts of the story.

    ME LIKES.
  3. awesome, Sergio, purely awesome congrats. bet you'll have a fantastic time -- and wear that U2 shirt with pride
  4. Congrats Sergio! I'm happy for you friend! I'm sure you'll have a great time!
  5. Thank you both

    Two CP thoughts.

    - For once in my life, I want an album to leak before its official release
    - I hope I find some B-sides or some unheard stuff soon, because I'm listening too much to CP lately and I'm afraid I might be burnt out before the concert arrives
  6. I've actually had quite a few Coldplay albums in my library and I had listened to them occasionally, but never really formulated an opinion about them for some reason. But I've found out that there are a lot of Coldplay songs that I can literally spend hours listening to. I guess my only quip about them is that most of their albums have a very similar feel to it, which is great for playlist continuity, but they aren't quite as versatile from a listening perspective as U2.

However, their live act appears to be pretty good. I just recently found a video of their performance of "A Message" for the Hope For Haiti Now telethon and I have to say that they are really impressive. They are probably one of a few bands that I would be willing to dish out decent money to see in concert. The other two bands are U2, obviously, and Muse.
  7. Yep, Ahn. U2, Coldplay and Muse. Those are the kings of today's rock music. And I only lacked Coldplay in my "✔ Attended!" list

Regarding the similar feel of their albums, I think you're right and wrong at the same time. Of course, their albums (specially the first three ones, Viva La Vida changed it a bit) have a similar sound as a whole... But there are pleeenty of different styles and sounds. The delicate semi-acoustic Green Eyes has virtually nothing to do with Politik or God Put A Smile Upon Your Face, and they're on the same album. And then again, Yellow and Shiver are similar being on the same album, but they're completely different to Everything's Not Lost and they all are quite different to Fix You or Life In Technicolor... The only thing that has remained more or less constant (and maybe the thing that gives more cohesion -and repetition- to all their recordings) is Chris Martin's singing style, but their musical style has changed quite a bit. If you have a chance, give a full listen to A Rush Of Blood To The Head (album) and give it a rest for two days; then listen to it again. You will discover what of a great album it is.

I wouldn't call Coldplay rock. They're a pop band. U2, Coldplay and Muse are the kings of today's good music
  9. I use the term "rock" as a generality, as opposed to pop-dance-electro-whatever (Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Beyoncé) or crap pop (Bieber and the like).

Most of U2's recent work isn't "rock" either. And half of Muse's last album isn't either.
  10. But U2 and Muse still make rock songs. The only song I've heard by Coldplay that I'd call rock is Violet Hill. And it's still very soft.
  11. Coldplay are rock. More specifically: alternative rock.
  12. Are Coldplay still relevant...or at least HUGE? I don't feel I hear them nearly as much as used to in public places and when I do it's songs like "Clocks" or "Yellow."
