1. I dont want anything that wasn't live (AKA Adam overdubbing YBR)

Also, I think listing the track as "Beautiful Day (International Space Station introduction)" clears up that issue. Then people who didnt see the shows know what that is. I loved that personally...almost brought me to tears first time I heard it.

he wasn't on YBR live as far as i can tell

  3. Live albums generally feature overdubs. U2 are no exception to this. If it's ok to fix instruments and vocals, then why not update an entire section?

I agree that putting in Adam would be a major fix, but the original contribution from de Winne wasn't live either.

I don't see how putting Adam in YBR is any worse than:
-cutting out the "send in the clowns"" snippet from Elco (UABRS) as well as dozens of other cuts,
    -no Breathe on 360
-"live version" of A Sort of Homecoming (really a soundcheck version /w audience added),
-crucial parts of Rattle&Hum (Watchtower) which were added in the studio,
-or any of the other blatant tricks they've used over the years (sequencing and additional musicians, hidden under the stage).

All of this is common knowledge and I don't mind. Some of the best live albums in history have been questionable in terms of their authenticity. Once you go beyond an audio only recording to video you need to overdub, mix sync and splice, since you're not going to get everything correct in one shot. Ever. How bad is it if a video features audio from multiple dates? If you mind then don't play the DVDs of Boston, Mexico, Chicago, etc.

We already have the warts and all performances as bootlegs, but a proper release needs to be as close to perfection as possible, including fixes, mixes and overdubs if necessary.

  4. my real concern was Beautiful Day and the Space Station intro, it was BEAUTIFUL when i saw it in person, but thankfully the version they are going with is from Zagreb 09 which has the same celtic-ish intro BUT has bono talking to the audience, there is no astronaut Matt.

Also, i wonder if they'll keep any snippets? i highly doubt it.
  5. I don't care about the legalities of cutting snippets etc., what needs done needs done. I just don't want them releasing another studio album that has the tag "live" on it, but they've gone and changed all the songs. I know it's happened before, and sometimes it sounds great, other times it wasn't probably necessary in the first place. I'd just like a nice simple release of the tracks is all.

ahaha same, i think we'll get it. from the snippets on u2.com i can't tell if anything's really all that edited. we will see though, this is u2 after all, perfectionists.
  8. The 22 that are there right now I'd be content with. I'd trade Walk On for anything else though.

  9. I kind of liked Walk On from the 40 second snippet on u2.com bono sounded into it.
  10. The Fly is dripping dangerously close to the bottom.

Also, drop Crazy and Walk On for Vertigo and Mysterious Ways!
