1. Yeah, a demo. i hope to record a kind of demo for a song of mine soon as well. Music is great.

Did these videos ever get posted?
  3. Hey guys, I'm resurrecting this to ask for a little help-

I've been uploading music to my SoundCloud for awhile now- been in a music-writing mood instead of a lyric-writing mood, so most of them don't have lyrics. Would anyone be willing to poke around on my page and give some of these a listen, and tell me honestly what you think? What you'd want to hear more of, which ones stand out as your favorites, which ones flat out aren't that good....And please, please, please- don't be kind if the music doesn't merit it. After awhile, everything I write sort of mushes together in my head and I need to break out of it- good, honest critique helps.

I hope some of you guys can find the time to give these a listen! Thanks

EDIT: You'll find some jams on there that are just licks and riffs I wanted to record, and plenty of "all-over-the-place" sections of songs.

What you're hearing is 100% me, except for the drum tracks. "Beneath the Breeze" and "All I've Got" are me slapping something, I can't remember what- so those aren't tracks. But everything else with what sounds like pro-recorded drums is a track found online to play along with. "Change"'s drums are sampled out of "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails.

"Name it Plain" (Currently retitled "Wish it Away") is the "lead single" as determined by myself and the rest of the band. AKA the one we like the most haha.
  4. I will have a look when I have some time, promise.
  5. No "Apnea" on that page?

The idea got put on hold for some creative "melding" with the rest of the band. Also I think it'd be a song that would be hard to write musically without the rest of the band present.

Oh, okay, can't wait to hear it.

Since I now have some spare time, I shall listen to your clips!
  8. Thanks!
  9. Here are some opinions, will edit in more of them while I'm listening. Listened to in really good headphones:

    Change:

Not to fond of it. Too boring and I don't like how the guitar is 'swirling' in my left ear when something actually happens. It'd need some great vocals to be a good track. Sorry.

    X.I.N.A:

Like the intro. Like the riff. I think it has some potential. Needs some nice lyrics and it's a decent song. Maybe also a chorus with a little more oomph, perhaps bring out that background riff?

    Whiskey Jam:

A little too distorted for my taste. Could be pretty decent with less distortion and a fuller sound I think. Like the bridge or whatever it is at 1:42.

    Megan:

Kinda like the melody. Again guitar is too distorted and lacks bass in its sound I think.

    Broken Echo:

Intro is maybe a bit long? Got a little boring I thought. I really liked the rest of it Nice job!!

    Unto You:

I like it. I would again perhaps turn down the distortion a bit, or at least have more bass in the guitar sound. It sounds a little thin.

    Beneath the Breeze:

Too much treble for my taste, especially in the beginning, kinda hurt my ears. Melody is quite nice. It doesn't quite capture me though, but other instruments (like voice) can be used for that

    Smokehouse:

This is a really nice track!! I like it a lot. Has some serious potential.

    All I've Got:

The melody that's in the intro is really nice. Would again like more bass in the distorted parts. This could be quite nice really with some more work.

    It Might Be Black:

I feel it's decent but nothing special. Feel left waiting for something to happen.

    Name It Plain:

I really like it. With a little more bass and a little less treble it'd be even better I think. This could grow to be a great tune!! Love the sustained sounding bits. This is great. Best one of the bunch.

    Run Like Hell (riff):

Again too trebly for me. Sounds pretty good otherwise!

Just Another Day At The Office:

Would again like a bass-ier guitar sound. Apart from that, I quite like it.

    The Real Deal:

The riff is pretty good. Guitar should be more prominent in the mix.

    Riff drums:

Another decent riff, nothing stellar. Guitar could again use a more prominent sound.

    Riff:

Quite nice riff. Would again like a more prominent guitar sound (I feel like I'm on repeat with this)

    Untitled:

I like it. More volume on the guitar thanks! At around 1:17 it feels like it's building up to something, I'd add something with some oomph there, some kind of grand chorus (Beautiful Day-like) would fit quite nicely there.

Overall, you have created some quite nice music. I enjoyed listening. Most songs need less treble and more bass IMO. Keep on doing it!
  10. Hey Matt, just had a listen to a few of the songs. Changes is my favourite so far.
  11. Thanks for all of the feedback Olof- I'm definitely struggling with writing away from the rest of the band, trying to visualize guitar parts against music that I can't produce myself...that's why I need to spice things up a bit and figure out how to make things less boring, perhaps less so-structural. Also, thanks for some of the mixing advice- I'll definitely take that into consideration and remix some of these, possibly change some effect-based issues.

Glad to hear you liked Change, Drew.
  12. Pretty good stuff, Matt I picked two songs I'm already a fan of. I love X.I.N.A and those drums in Unto You
