Although i still enjoy Don't Believe the Truth quite a bit

Yep, Noel's album is quite stellar in my opinion. The Beady Eye album is not as good: the fillers are, well, fillers. But there's quite a few good tunes in there, and a couple of nice B-sides, too. My impression is that both Noel and Liam are giving their best on their own: there were too many tensions in Oasis, and too much rivalry. The brothers always said that the hate was giving an edge to the band. But I think that's crap: with less hate, they're both working a lot better now than they were in Oasis. Of course, if they could solve their serious (psychological!) issues and find a way to work together, and if they could keep the freshness of their new records, they could really do some great work. But that's lots of ifs!
  2. I do wish Noel would have banged out Lord Dont Slow Me Down and Masterplan at the Beacon, here in NYC.Other than that,he performed the tunes I wanted and expected.

Ill just quote my friend Chris (a Brit) who was in the orch with me N2 @ the Beacon...."Noel,as usual, was nothing short of fuckin' brilliant tonight."

That kinda sums up the gig....lol
  3. Listening to the Masterplan today.Havent played this gem in a long time.I cant believe these songs were relegated to b-side status.Acquiesce,Talk Tonight,Going Nowhere,The Swamp Song,Half The World Away,Its Good To Be Free,Stay Young,The Masterplan. These are great songs. Not to mention other bsides that were left out, like Step Out,Sad Song,Take Me Away and the Warchild version of Fade Away.

Be Here Now could have used Stay Young and the Warchild version of Fade Away,IMO.

I cant think of any other band (besides the Beatles), who released so many great songs as the flip side.Almost as throw aways. And this release is only from the first 3 albums.

Most bands have awful bsides.Radiohead and U2 (especially the early years '80-'83,J.Swallow anyone?) come to mind.Yes,they have a few solid b's,but nothing in comparison to Oasis in the 90's.

I actually think a few of these tracks, are as good as anything the band ever released. The Masterplan is my favorite Oasis tune, with Columbia.I wish Noel would have played it the other night.

As great as Morning Glory is,IMO,it would have benefitted even greater from songs like Masterplan and Acquiesce.

Such was Noel Glallagher's songwritting brilliance in the mid 90s.

LOLOLOLOL...yes..you got me.....our boys actually slipped my mind

But SOLAT (Singles Soundtrack) and MOTH were on Movie Soundtracks..they werent actual b sides.I Got Shit is the A side of Long Road isnt it ?..it was a single.

But as far as so many "great songs" as b sides,I think Oasis have far better quality b sides than Pearl Jam.Yellow Led is really the only classic great b side by PJ.... IMO of course.
  6. hehehe ... anyway completely agree about the quality of the songs Oasis left as b-sides .. and Noel has not lost the habit .. have you heard Alone on the rope?

Would have catapulted to "Greatest Album of All TIme" if they included these two tracks on (WTS)MG.
