1. You need a wifi adapter. And USB adapter is the easiest solution. They should have those at any store selling pc related stuff.
  2. so I go into a pc store and ask for a wifi USB adapter?
  3. If your laptop doesn't have an internal wifi searcher/connector, yes, you have to ask for a WiFi USB adapter. They're cheap, don't worry

I plan to take my laptop to Ireland. Never did that before, but I want to now.

on the places I stay, I'll have this free WiFi thingy. So I understand that I can go online with my own laptop, right? what do I need for that? I think I understand I need a webstick as a replacement of a modem-sort-of-thing to go online?

what do I need when going for the webstick?

my laptop has windows xp and no wlan router/card at all. It has a modem inside but I guess this is not relevant here.

Help? I'm more clueless than ever

You will need a USB wifi adapter. This will allow you to connect to any free wifi spots you find. Preferably get one that supports Wireless-N technology although this is not necessary. Really though just look for the cheapest one that has decent reviews.

Edit: Okay, didn't see all those other replies... I'm a little late
  5. At least we all agree
  6. I picked one up on Amazon for a desktop PC for no more than £5. Works brilliantly, hasn't once dropped out or lagged behind. Cheap as chips.
  7. Kirsten, you need an USB WiFi adapter.
  8. Ordered the Lumia 800
  9. Took the plunge then. Keep us posted. I'm still enjoying ut but can't help but feel that it could do with another 0.2 or 0.3 inches on the screen.

    What size is it?

EDIT: Nevermind, just found out. It does seem a little small compared to today's standards. Not sure I'd want to roll around in HTC's 4.7" park (let's forget the Galaxy Note), though you never know. I went from 3" to 4.3" quite comfortably. 4"+ should now be standard on these types of devices in my opinion.
  11. It is 3.7". Found a great deal, free with a 1yr contract. Hope to receive it next week, depends on the number transfer from my current provider.
  12. Free with 1 year? That's a great contract And which fee per month you have? I guess it must be pretty high... I got my N8 free with 18 months contract with a ~40€/month fee...
