While it is true that most of the songs can be found on great bootlegs, the songs selected will get that "official release" treatment. For songs like One Tree Hill, this means a great official version will be released. The bootlegs with One Tree Hill aren't bad, but they certainly aren't of the same quality as Wide Awake In Europe.

Also, it's $50 for an annual membership, meaning the possibility (however small) of other material given exclusively to paid members.

$50 = €38 which is imo too much for 22 songs. Only other possible advantage is the code for ordering tickets, which won't be the case next year.
But hey, every person has to consider this for his own

And access to all u2.com areas (all streaming videos etc). I'm with you, it's not worth it

  9. True, but almost every video finds its way to youtube quite soon.
I've subscribed for 1 year and well yeah, personally I do not think it's worth the money

But we're going off topic. I DO think this is the best present U2.com gives away so yeah, the album looks nice, but not $50-nice
  10. It is indeed a great gift but I just can't bring myself to spend $50 on this thing, either. I may have already mentioned this (at least in the Pearl Jam thread) but I recently bought FIVE ENTIRE PJ SHOWS (mp3 versions, mind you) for $50 - and this is a band that varies their setlist every night.

Who knows? Maybe when I see the final track listing, I might change my mind.
  11. I hope I don't sound like a snob with money to throw around here, but to me 50 bucks a year isn't a huge deal, especially when it means I get early pre-sales next time they come around and a (hopefully good) gift once a year, this one being awesome. The past few years have been pretty meh, but I'm glad that the 50 bucks is finally going somewhere.
