1. It's not a right or wrong question. No one here knows the answer, we all can only guess. I was just irritated by the way you posted as if you had the facts...

  4. You've written a great checklist of questions and I'll answer them if I can.

1)Firstly is anyone expecting a U2 best of 2000-2010 album to follow tradition?
Well, U218 is sort of halfway there. Some songs from the 80s, 90s and 00s on there. I want to hear a 1990-2000 style CD where there's one disc of best releases from HTDAAB and ATYLCB and a second disc with songs like Always, Mercy (the finished version), Are You Gonna Wait Forever, Neon Lights...etc. You get the idea.

1a) If so would that just include songs from the HTDAAB album and the one they are currently working on? Because songs from the ATYCLB album (2001) were used in the best of 1990-2000 album (not being picky honestly)
I believe so. Many good songs on ATYCLB and HTDAAB and the new direction of Window In The Skies sounds alright.

    2) Since the 1990-2000 album which included HTBA and HMTMKMKM all of which are soundtracks and are not on any album as is Electrical strom (I think), and despite the vertigo tour taking a lot of time, they haven't made any soundtrack songs yet to feature on the 2000-2010 album.
We don't know what the 2000-2010 album will sound or be like, so it's a little hard in that respect. What about Tower of Song, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, I Am The Walrus...?

    3) Any opinons about the 1990-2000 album? I think its a good album, but there are so many great songs left out (could be better)
It's nice, but the second disc is kind of boring. Just crappy remixes. The first disc is great with so many great songs there.

    4) When U2 release Best Ofs albums they apparently release an edition of it with the best b-sides of that era. Are the Best of and b-side album released on the same date as the regular best of, cos I always seem to not notice it?
I think you mean there's a second disc with bonus stuff? Same day (in Australia). U218 had the CD version (with a bonus track of some sort, I Will Follow?), iTunes had Smile as a bonus track, and the deluxe edition with the Milan06 DVD and the regular CD were all out at my local record store on the same day (except iTunes obviously).

    5) There has been dicussion before about our favourite compilations, but I have to say that the Best of 1980-1990 record is such a strong collection of songs and it sounds coherent. To me this is the best official compilation.
1980-1990 is the best by far. Sunday Bloody Sunday, I Will Follow, Where The Streets Have No Name, Desire, All I Want Is You, October, The Unforgettable Fire, Pride...any more awesome songs there? All worth the money and time.

    6) Do people regard the Passengers album as an Official U2 album? WHat do you think of that album?
Sort of regarded as a U2 album. Miss Sarajevo was performed regularly on the last legs of the Vertigo tour, but it's more an 'avantgarde' album - not something U2 are recognised for. But the rest of the songs...Slug, Plot 180, Ito Okashi aren't performed regularly if at all!!! To be honest I quite like it but it's really an experiment which in many people's minds, went a little wrong.
  5. Windows in the Sky and The Saints Are Coming have already been put on a Best Of disc.....they wont put them on another one.

those are album songs....totally different issue. putting Windows or Saints on another 'best of' would be like putting Sweetest Thing on the 90-00 disc because it was released again in '98.....

  12. I definitely don't want another Best Of. We'ce had enough rips of money (U218, Zoo Sydney, PoP Mexico, the upcoming Joshua Tree...)
Bono and co... Better put your efforts on a new album. That's what we need
