  3. Big Congrats to the Pumas - thrashed France in the 3rd place play-off tonight 34-10 and scored on eof the tries of the tournament in the process.

    They have to be allowed into the Tri-Nations or Six Nations now....

    I had a fantastic time in Paris; I think that during this World Cup the game of rugby has won. Even in Holland tonight's final will be broadcasted live on television. Unfortunately it was impossible for me to get tickets for the final. From this day on I will put some extra money aside in order to be able to follow the world cup in 2011 in New Zealand.

  6. I have to say that South Africa probably deserve the World Cup based on consistency throughout the championship, but England were desperately unlucky with some of the decisions made tonight (it WAS a try for a start...)

    The video ref is saying that foot was in touch (or part of the leg anyway). But if you look at the replay closely, the foot was in the air (clever play) and the ball is over the tryline before the knee went into touch. Wrong decision.....

    I totally agree. His leg was clearly off the ground (you could see that in the down the line shot). You heard the ref saying 'so the ball was in touch'

    initially i thought it was a try, heres the events: his foot is in air, his torso then hits the floor (which seemed a try) and then his knee hits the touchline. But after close inspection when his torso hits the floor, its the left hand side of his torso that makes contact with the floor and then his right hand side also touches the floor (ball carrying side indicating its grounded) but at that point is knee is in touch. so:

    Foot in air, left side of torso hit floor, knee in touch, ball is grounded.

    You have to see it from behind many times. But very close to judge could have gone either way. I dont think england can say they were robbed.
    At least england have silenced their critics during the world cup. Pitty there is no one from south africa here
  11. I think the fact that the video-ref was an Aussie might have influenced his decision? What you reckon. Anyone else would have given it
  12. hmm well its hard to find refs etc that are completely impartial. But dont the tri nations hate each other, I think there is a strong rivalry there. So if anything he would have given england the try.

    Look at the six nations and the referees there. For example in the wales v italy match the ref was english, and he made a really bad decision at the end , and people could accuse him of not being impartial cos of the english welsh rivalry, cos after all referees are fans of the games. So its hard to find someone who doesnt really care.
