a great 4 nights to wrap up the 2nd leg of the 2000 N.American Tour......

    45 tunes..3 crisp hrs,19 min
  3. I think I'm going to get a few shows off pearljambootlegs.org. What shows are must have? Atlanta 1994 is one I've seen mentioned a few times.
  4. Oh, God....Here we go.

Go a few posts back and you'll see Ed's list of 18 "must have" gigs - and these are just from the two North American legs of the 2000 tour!!!!! The thing is, he's probably right. The 2000 tour is full of classics. However....

I like the two London shows from 2000 - and the two Italy shows form that same year are good. The sound level on these first-leg shows is a bit lowe than that of the later two North American legs. Seattle N2 from 2000 (last show of the tour) is quite popular - although maybe overrated. However, this was the only time in NA that "Alive" was played. Once again, take your pick from Ed's list - he knows best.

The two MSG and three Boston shows from 2003 are generally deemed as classics as well. I actually like the three Mexico shows from that tour better.

Lots of great shows from 2006 but I think the five Italy shows rule them all.

If you can get more recent shows, the two 2010 MSG shows are fantastic. As for 2011, I am a bit bias but the Toronto N1 show (available for free download - at least it was a while back) is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING - as is the N2 show.

These are very nice lists indeed. This would fit nicely on to three discs. ONE DAY, I might make it - along with the other groupings.

Will still do the four-CD set I was planning for 2000 but if the five openers in a row just don't cut it, I'll go to Plan B and do smaller mixes for each leg of the tour.
  6. Well I went for Ten, listened to it and I'd say that I have mixed feelings towards it at the moment. Love Once, straight off the bat it grabbed me. Even Flow didn't quite hit me as well, though on second listen, it's grown on me a little. Same story with Alive really, second listen was much more pleasurable. Not too keen on Why Go. I like Black but I'm not massively enthusiatic about Jeremy. Oceans is good, also like Porch and Garden. I wasn't feeling Deep, hasn't caught on with second listen either. Though the close, Release is up there with Once as my favourites off the album.

On the whole, I'm liking what I'm hearing, I suspect that the tracks that have grown on me after a second listen will continue growing as well. Undecided as to whether to hit the next album or hit a compilation. I'm thinking a compilation will open up the rest of the albums quicker than it would to cycle through chronologically.

EDIT: After a second listen, I had to go back and listen to Once again.

    more than a suspect
Black, for example, still keeps on growing whenever i listen to ... Jeremy will surprise you
the growth wil go on and on if you ever fall into live performances

I'm still discovering U2 live, never mind other artists I think I have bootlegs for around 4/5 other artists than U2 and it's only one or two bootlegs at that. I had high expectations of Jeremy going into it because it's listed as one of the top listed too tracks for Pearl Jam on both Spotify and Last.fm, probably the reason I wasn't into it, my subconscious wouldn't allow it.
  9. I hope what I'm about to write makes sense:

It may be a bit more effort, but I think you should stick with the studio albums. You don't have the influence of radio "bombarding" you with the hits (as I had over the past two decades) so you can make your own judgment as to what are truly your favourite songs. Listening to the Greatest Hits album might influence your decision in a similar manner.
  10. The thing with live PJ is that most of their shows since 2000 have been officially released - so you have lots to choose from and all are of high quality.

Unfortunately, this is not the case with most other artists - including U2.

  11. it depends on what his subconscious will allow hehehe
    kidding
