1. How far are you through Vs.?
  2. Glorified G just started.
  3. Finished listening. Great album, not as good as Ten though, at least not now with only one listen. Standout tracks were the slower ones. Some songs became a bit too much.

Nice..have you listened to this great gig yet ??????
  6. First half only - very, very good. I'll give a full report once I've listened to it in full.

Just focus on the ten "normal" songs - not the extras like "Bugs."

The sower songs like Daughter, "Small Town," and Indifference are true PJ classics. Upbeat tracks like Go, Animal, Dissident, and RVM are some of their best work. The other five tracks might be more of an acquired taste.

Upon more listens, it starts to creep up on Ten. Admittedly, Vs. is not better than Ten, but in my opinion, it's almost there. The slower songs are great, like Daughter, Small Town and Indifference. But the harder songs, like Go and Animal are great, some of my favourite 'heavier' Pearl Jam songs. I'm guessing the "some songs that became a bit too much" were the likes of Blood? I love Blood, because it has that mass amount of energy to it. Some of the early 90s performances of that song are devastatingly good. Two songs I'm not too keen on are W.M.A. and Glorified G; they just ruin the album being a killer for me. If those two songs weren't on it, I'd say it was probably just better than Ten. Even then, I cannot say Vs. is better than Ten, because their debut album is absoutely flawless in every single sense. One of the best debut albums for sure, but not the best. You'd have to be looking into Appetite for Destruction, Velvet Underground & Nico, Elvis Presley's debut album or a couple of others to award best debut album to.
  10. Go and Animal are indeed awesome. Rearviewmirror too. Those are standouts as well. I love Animal.

  11. Animal is amazing....they opened with it at my Philly show (N2,10.28.09)..I flipped...
  12. Rearviewmirrow is one of the rare cases where I think I prefer the studio version to the live ones. They tend to go all Led Zeppelin on RVM on the stage which is sometimes a good thing but not always.
