if a best of is called "the best of 1990 to 2000" then it does have a structure that makes some songs inappropriate for the disc. That's why elevation and walk on were not appropriate for the 90-00 best of disc - because they were released in 2001.

Saints was a benefit song, so it'll probably end up right where silver and gold did - on the b-side disc eve though its not a b-side.

Windows has a small possibility, but will probably end up left alone just like electrical storm.

that is stating the blatantly obvious. Electrical Storm was released in 2002 though and its on 1990-2000. I know they released this song to coincide with the release of the album but it's still a track from 2002. The Hands That Built America was also on there.

notice that nothing has been done with either of them since then? they were bonus tracks to pump up sales....just like the bonus material on DVD releases....

  8. (The original discussion here is a little different than the topic I wanted to make, but it's an older thread, so I figured this would suffice instead of opening a new one. Feel free to move if necessary. )

If you had to make your own Best of 1980-1989 + B-Sides and Best of 1990-1999 + B-Sides, what would you choose?

For the B-Sides, I'm including any non-album song--it can be from a soundtrack, Passengers, the Achtung Baby outtakes, any other album outtake, remixes, radio edits, etc., just as long as it's not on one of the studio albums.

    My Best of 1980-1989 (albums):

    2. A Sort of Homecoming
    3. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For

    5. Tomorrow
    6. Drowning Man
    7. Heartland
    8. Exit
    9. Sunday Bloody Sunday
    10. The Electric Co.
    11. Desire
    12. Gloria
    13. The Unforgettable Fire
    14. With Or Without You
    15. All I Want Is You

    Best of 1980-1989 (B-Sides):

    Best of 1990-1999 (B-Sides):

    14. Two Shots of Happy, One Shot of Sad
    15. Alex Descends Into Hell For a Bottle of Milk

  9. Year and a half bump up. Good work
  10. I think we'll see a 2000 - 2010 Best Of.

Most of the songs below could feature on it - although I think a couple are a bit weak for a Best Of.

    Elevation
    Walk On
    Vertigo
Sometimes You Cant Make It On Your Own
    All Because Of You
    Original Of The Species
    The Saints Are Coming
    Window In The Skies
    Get On Your Boots
    Magnificent
    Single 3 from NLOTH
    Single 4 from NLOTH

Plus tracks from a possible new album in 2010 and a bonus track or two

I think the whole Best Of thing would have been loads better if ATYCLB had been kept back for the third compilation. They could have been called Vol 1,2 and 3, rather than 80-90, 90-00 and 00-10
