  1. Here's a question I've been meaning to ask on here, but kept forgetting until now: anyone else here a big Neil Young fan. Neil was one of the first artists I became a diehard fan of. I remember seeing somewhere that NY was to the acoustic guitar what Jimi Hendrix was to the electric, and he really is that good. I don't have as much of his stuff as I'd like, but what I have is tremendous. After the Gold Rush, Harvest, and On the Beach are great albums, and his show from Massey Hall in 1971 shows how great of a solo performer he is.
  2. Not a HUGE fan, but I do really love Hey Hey My My, and DMB does a cover of The Needle and Damage Done which I believe is a song of his.

    Apparently him & Crazy Horse have a new album coming out, not sure if you were aware of that.
  3. Not really. To be honest, I haven't really listened to any of his stuff in the past couple of decades. I stick mainly with late 60s and the 70s

    his late 60's-70's production is just awesome .. Neil Young, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, After The Gold Rush, Harvest, On The Beach, Tonight's The Night, Zuma .., Comes A Time, Rust Never Sleep .. all in a row
    i can't really stand his experimental electronic period of the 80's but at the end he came out with such an album like Freedom (keep on rocking in the free wooorld) and he turned back in good .. Ragged Glory, Sleep With Angels (Kurt ) .. till the well known here in this topic Mirror Ball.
    latest works are still good enough (compared to what came from the past) and cool he opened his Archives since mid 00's
    saw him last time in 2008 and he was still in a great form

    not to forget Buffalo Springfield and CSNY of course

I SHOULD be a fan of Neel Young...love grunge....love the Merkinball EP...love a lot of classic rock...from Canada...he joined PJ on stage last Sept at the show I attended....but aside from his MEGA-hits (solo or in the various bands he's been part of) I've never really listened to that much of his music.

    I think songs like "Piece of Crap" are quite...funny....even though I assume there's probably supposed to be some sort of irony in there.

    When I was in my teens, I found myself listening to somewhat heavier stuff (GNR, Led Zep, etc. and later Nirvana, PJ, etc.) and the radio stations around here tended to play Neil's "folksier" stuff - which I wasn't really into. I suppose that's why I never really got into Bob Dylan either.
  8. Good to know there are some fans here. And if you haven't ever listened to Ambulance Blues, please do so. One of my 10 favorite songs of all time.

    Agreed... It's EV's vocals I try to draw some kind of inspiration from when I'm singing it.
  11. Had to sing that tune quite a few times to fill in for our singer (and actually once during a show), since my band had it in our setlist last summer. Fun one.
  12. RITFW is a great, straight-ahead, rock n' roll tune, for sure.

    I also really dig PJ versions of Baba O'Riley. I realize that it'll always be a "Who song" but I think Eddie and the guys really nail it.
