1. This soundtrack for The Avengers is looking pretty good - at least if you're a fan of 90's music.

    And who isn't?!
  2. Weiland on new Stone Temple Pilots album: “Yeah, I’m sure that will happen. Although it’s odd because we used to tour to promote our records, and now we put out records to promote tours. Which is the way of the world, though.”

sad but true (quoting Hetfield) .. at least in many many cases nowadays

he also said he would do Velvet Revolver reunion shows some time
by now a Core anniversary tour is on the way
  3. Geez...STP is 20 years old...time flies.

I've never seen them live. I think it would be a good show - assuming they stuck to their earlier stuff.
  4. well according to Weiland they're going to play Core in its entirety .. not bad i'd say
  5. Interesting.

Admittedly, I prefer Purple - or whatever it was supposed to be called. "Superman Silvergun" is killer - not as good as, say, "Welcome to the Jungle," however, but killer indeed. (Felt the need to say something about GNR since it "their" thread.
  6. i like much more Core even if Purple is a great album indeed no question .. after that they slowly (more or less) started to get lost

(i put it here for the connection STP-Velvet-GNR .. because of the absence of a general topic and not feeling in need to open one for the Pilots )
  7. I agree about leaving STP in this category (or the PJ one ) As much as I like(d) them, even Alice and Chains probably don't have enough "umph" to have their own thread. Bands from that era that do deserve their own thread (and have one) would be: Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Foo Fighters, and Bush.

Ha, ha...kidding on that last one.

That said, if there was enough "pull" for an STP or AIC thread - or even Bush (!?!?!) who am I to argue.
  8. I'm currently on a little bit of a Guns N' Roses binge. I've been discovering stuff that I haven't really paid huge attention to before. But in the midst of my GnR hook, I remembered something about a certain song while listening to their groundbreaking Appetite for Destruction: the song 'You're Crazy'. I remembered that it had an acoustic version which featured on the Lies album. So after listening to the original, fast-paced version of 'You're Crazy' several times, I decided to listen to the stripped down version. And guess what? I absoutely LOVE it.

Compared to the original, it sounds so much more simplistic than it actually is. Axl's beautiful calm vocals to start off, which start to get more intense as the song flows. It's a different GnR, but a more admirable GnR.

The original version, however, has this extremely quick tempo and is utterly outrageous — especially live and when Sebastian Bach sings it.

This is one of my 'love a song and then have to write about it'.

So what does everyone prefer? The studio version; the acoustic version; or the live version?
  9. ^I was at that Toronto 1991 show!!!!!!!!!

    1. acoustic version
    2. live version
    3. A4D version

    (all solid, however.)
  10. You lucky, lucky bastard. To see Guns N' Roses with Sebastian Bach doing 'You're Crazy'... simply lucky. Yet, I envy you.

Great! The acoustic version is my favourite.
  11. Acoustic by far.
  12. i go for the album version, meaning Appetite. i like the acoustic version but not much a fan of that side of Lies; i definetely love the Like a Suicide EP side.
ehm about that version live .. i don't like much Bach .. great voice indeed but to my ears not an impressive singer (the 2 things not always go together uh? ) .. now stone me hehe
i know him just for the first couple of Skid Row works though .. some good things there however
