I guess U2 just wanted to document the notable occasion for themselves, him and the South African fans who went to the show.

OK, fair enough, then send themselves (the guy's in U2), Hugh Masekela and the South African fans their own version with this special track......most of the rest of us would rather have version of ISHFWILF that was what they GENERALLY did on the 360 tour

I agree that the 2 pieces of music don't fit together.
  2. Honestly, the more I think about it, I can barely get through a few war horses when listening to concerts:

    I Still Haven't
    SBS
    WOWY
    NYD
    Elevation
    Beautiful Day
    Mysterious Ways

Those are all great songs, and I do feel guilty about hitting the skip button, but I've probably heard most of those well over 1000 times total including live and the studio originals.

I think this is actually a fair thing to do when listening to bootlegs. We've heard those song so many times that even though they're great songs, we've heard them so many times that we know the discrete differences between each recording. For that reason, I have a specific playlist where I only have my top two or three favorite live recordings of each song. That way, I'm not shuffling through 10 recordings of SBS. Whenever I feel the need to relive an entire concert experience, that's where I get out the complete bootlegs.

But I feel that whenever you're at a gig, you're always sucked into the action of the live experience, no matter how often you've heard a song played.
  4. full performance here:

I like it. nice vibe. I reckon it adds to the performance. watch the guys take the lead from Masakela towards the end.
  5. Alright I've watched the video and I've determined that it does add to the performance. Hearing that one segment presented in the official video made it seem like it was off, but hearing it in the context of the entire song changed my opinion.
  6. OK....I've watched the whole video and my original thoughts are now confirmed.

It doesn't fit and it feels "forced" to fit in the song. You can see Bono trying real hard to make this idea work, but it just seems out of tune at times, awkward and otherwise forced to try to fit and make their idea succeed.

Sorry, but it doesn't succeed and to see the whole video and how they are trying to make it work shows visually that it's awkward

That. Sorry for those who like it.
  8. I feel sorry for those who don't like it.
  9. Actually, as I think about it, it's kinda irritating to have them force this performance on people now a second time. It's as if they so wanted it to work (as I stated above), it didn't then, but now maybe if they put it out there again by slipping it in the 2 cd set, it will somehow now work this time around and will seem like a good performance.

Didn't then and still doesn't now
  10. I still haven't found my appreciation for this version. I'll just skip it when I get the CDs

People voted for songs based on what was being done with the song on this tour, not a "one-off" of the song on this tour

It totally isn't... because then songs like Vertigo and Crazy Tonight should have made the list! People voted for their favorite songs or the ones THEY wanted on the CD.

I do have a bit of anger out of them putting a limit on how many songs, when it should have been at least 75 minutes per cd. That way, songs like Electical Storm would've fit. I like the trumpet on ISHFWILF, but it probably doesn't fit well for the average fan, so I'd probably rather just have a regular version. Breathe would've been nice, but at least we have that in soundboard quality on a single.

Considering it wasn't another lame cd of remixes we already have most of, I'm overjoyed that we at least had some input.

...really thought you were going to make reference to U22: Fish Out Of Water Uber Super Duper Even Better Than Superman Deluxe version...
