    Why is it a shame?
  2. A shame they didn't try and incorporate it into the live show I meant It's a lot better than that awful effect they added to Moment of Surrender on the Wide Awake release
  3. Any guess what part of the world will get U22 first?
  4. Well U2.com ship from both the US and the UK so I'd have my money on America and Europe to receive first.

Yeh this is exactly what I mean... It's like he's hesitant about changing the lyrics and he ends up mumbling between words and getting a bit tongue tied..

But I accepted that as it's a 20 year old song that they havent attempted since then, and it sounded great anyway. Gotta love it. What I'm curious about is that echo on his voice near the end of the song. I can't actually remember hearing it when I heard UV live or on any bootlegs. It sounds neat, reminds me of the UF tour echo.

Anaheim 2 begs to differ. I seriously think it's one of the strongest performances of that song in the entire tour. Also, there's no confusion there. Bono knows for sure that love is a secret, not a podcast. But in general, the later performances of Ultra Violet are much stronger because Bono is more focused on singing the song as opposed to playing around with the steering wheel mic.

But in general, Ultra Violet sounds way better during 360 than it ever did back during ZooTV. The ZooTV performances never really encompassed the mood the song carried and even felt lackluster.
  7. I have to agree with ahn1991 on this one, I used to absolutely adore Ultra Violet from Zoo TV, but now I honsetly think that the 360 perfromances are much stronger. I only wish that Bono carried forward the "When I was all fucked up lyric" into the 360 tour.

Personal favourite because I love his voice at "there is a silence..." and "I remember, when we could sleep on stones..."

Agree with your first point, but not your second I love the Zoo TV performances of it. I love what Edge was doing on guitar (especially during the bridge), I love the chorus vocals and how Bono would do the falsetto and Edge would respond with the "Ultraviolet" part. Plus Bono had a whole Elvis thing going on with the powerful parts of the song. His voice sounded "powerful" back on the ZooTV performances, on 360 it sounded raw and emotional. I'm not saying either one is better than the other, but I think they're different and I do like both versions.
  9. before making this a UV Zoo TV/360 debate I do have to agree that Anaheim 2 is the most sure and powerful version of UV, that's the only version I listen to aside from the Rose Bowl, Milan and Sheffield but I love this version as well because IT IS UV <3 any UV is better than no UV at all imo
  10. The 360 and ZooTV versions both have their merits, including the fact that neither version would fit very well in the other version's time. The ZooTV version was absolutely perfect for the persona the band had created and the tour they were doing. The 360 version would definitely feel out of place in the ZooTV tour. Likewise, the 360 version is great for the band's current persona. I especially love the idea of the light jacket representing a Bono of an earlier age. Seeing him don it for Ultra Violet makes you instantly think of a man singing of a past age of youth. Bono removing the light jacket and seeing it off during With Or Without You is an equally symbolic moment of the show, one where Bono recognizes that there is a time for him to bid the past farewell.
  11. ^^ absolutely true!! They really did think about the UV >> WOWY combination. It fits together very well IMO

When was it established that the light jacket represented Bono of a past time? (I honestly don't know)
