By the way Ronnie, now that you mention Misfits, some of their songs are so good. Attitude being one that I had to find out just who originally did it - and they had others that I can't recall the titles of. T'was all on Spotify anyway.

.. Die die my darling .. Last caress .. Green Hell .. for example .. of which there are nice covers by Metallica too

Got to love the Attitude cover, though.

It would've mad some sense had they followed it up with a full regular album. As it is, it remains their swan song as a (proper) band. But I wouldn't call it pointless; Metallica famously did a full double album of covers and Van Halen half an album, so it's not without precedent in rock. In fact, the Rolling Stones' debut album is an album of covers.

I know, I know and I know. And I said it was a pointless album "to me".
  4. I've some Misfits (and UK Subs too!!!) on my Spotify punk playlist. Should make for great Sunday midnight listening.

The Stones' first album has Walkin' The Dog??? I must get this album along with the album of theirs that has Come On. Sometimes cover albums are some bands' best work.
  5. we're waiting for a report of Slash concert by someone... hehe
  6. Haha, that'll be me.

This was my second time seeing Slash. The first time being at T in the Park where he produced a small festival like set where the audience wasn't really in the mood and neither were the band. Obviously, this time it's different. It's a headlining show indoor with a venue that is usually deemed as having a great atmosphere.

So waiting outside with my ticket in one hand trying to get a bit of warmth inside me somehow as it was fairly cold in Edinburgh last night - hence why I never stayed to try and meet Slash & his band. I later found out that he was actually signing tickets in the last place I expected him to be, but however... In true tradition, I was wearing my Appetite for Destruction t-shirt. You get into a venue, you pick a spot, then that particular bit is filled with arseholes. Arseholes that talk loud shit in front of you and also start a sentence with "Wouldn't it be funny..." My reply is "No, it wouldn't be." Then you have people from way behind trying to make their way to the front then suddenly stop right in front on you. Twats.

The first support act, I admittedly never heard of in my life. They were called Ginger Wildheart. They had some great riffs but the songs got too nice. They had an insane drummer though. So that was a boring half an hour of me just wanting them to leave and for Slash to come on.

When Slash came on, I bowed at my idol. That man is a living legend to me and when he ripped into the 'Halo' riff, I knew I was in for a killer show.

Obviously the Guns N' Roses songs were received better than his solo stuff but I sang everything. There was quite a bit played from Appetite for Destruction - 7 songs to be precise.

One song I hoped for was 'You're Crazy' and it was played. Todd Kerns, who is a brilliant vocalist by the way, sang that along with 3 other songs. Great effort by him. Safe to say that I went mental when 'You're Crazy' came on.

'Rocket Queen' was easily the highlight of the night, though. Watching Slash rip into a 5 minute solo doing what he does best is utterly mindblowing.

The ending on the show was brilliant too. As soon as the solo for 'Paradise City' began, confetti shot out everywhere - still finding it nearly an hour later on my hoodie.

I almost got a pick when Slash threw them into the crowd. I actually saw two on the floor when he went off and was just about to go down and get them but a guy reacted more quickly than I did then got BOTH of them and gave BOTH to his kid. Greedy bastard.

So yeah, fine gig it was. Not the best gig of the year so far - *cough* Pearl Jam was the best *cough* - but it was still amazing.

  7. very glad your idol didn't disappoint you
wow 7 Appetite songs that's more or less 1/3 of the set and more of the new songs if i counted right
  8. Yup, correct. Only 6 songs from his new album opposed to 7 from Appetite.

I really like his new album actually. It has grown on me. Although I'd definitely take more Appetite songs any day of the week.
  9. Who wouldn't? It's one of the greatest albums ever!
  10. Appetite is a clear example of mix of factors that is hard to repeat
nonetheless Apocalyptic Love is an enjoyable album of very good rock and it's a great thing someone is still able to do that
  11. Speaking of GNR:

Do any of you know of any five-star/A+/outstanding soundboard recordings floating out there in cyberspace from their 1991-1993 World Tours? Aside from Live Era, I have one from Paris 1992 and recall there's good ones from Tokyo and (I think it's) Buenos Aires but I haven't really search over the past three or four years.
  12. i found this that seems to be pretty nice one .. i saw there is at least Noblesville 91 in soundboard
