I don't think it has anything to do with pulling it off live, but more to do with what U2 thinks fits in their show. It's the reason they never tried Acrobat (I remember them saying that somewhere...) and probably a bunch of other songs. I definitely agree with you on the liking a song more when hearing it live, but with a song like Fez I just think it's so great it has to win this

I think it wins because it wasn't played live but it should have been. If it was played we may very well have liked it less!
