Nice List , you've got until the 23th of december so if you want to you can still change
  9. Right, I've finished. The problem with such a long list is that it's so much harder to actually order them. I've based my list on a couple of factors - mainly how often/much I listen to an album, memories associated with the music and anything else that surrounds an album that makes me hold it in a higher regard than another. Obviously U2 are my favourite band and I just couldn't use any less than the ten slots available for a top one-hundred list. Compared to previous lists, there will be some new entries here (maybe a surprise or two), which is good I guess. Take a listen if you haven't heard one of the following albums. I intend to listen to as many of the higher placed albums in your own lists and hopefully next year, the final one-hundred(?) in reverse order.

So, here is the list of my favourite one-hundred albums (in approximate order):

    1. U2 - Achtung Baby
    2. U2 - The Joshua Tree
    3. U2 - The Unforgettable Fire

    12. David Gray - Life In Slow Motion
    13. The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
    14. Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run
    15. Oasis - Definitely Maybe
    16. The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
    17. Oasis - Be Here Now
    18. Muse - Absolution
    19. Oasis - Don't Believe The Truth

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

A list (from me) wouldn't be complete without a quick analysis.

In terms of the age of albums, they're spread across 49 years from 1963 (Please Please Me) to 2012 (The Glorious Dead). Of those 49 years, there are 42 years that are represented by at least one album. As I expected, 1987 is at the top of the pile with seven albums coming from that year. It does however share top spot with another year that also has seven albums and as a complete surprise to me, 2005 is that year. I would've put my money on 1991 or 1997. The decade with the most albums in the list is the 1980's, which is responsible for 30% of the list.

In terms of where the music comes from. London comes out on top with 19 albums from artists originating in the capital. Manchester comes a close second with 16 albums. Finally, the UK has the largest number of albums in here with just over 70%.

Oh, and there are 44 unique artists up there.

    End of broadcast.
  10. Haha, you love statistics don't you . I won't delete my Excel counting documents this year so there will be more statistics at the end. I know Rummy loves them.

I need to listen to some songs of David Gray, I've downloaded Babylon (If I'm right) and I loved it.
  11. Tim, you're the man.
