1. Correct, a starter kit is 240 euro (around 300 US$) which will give you the home device, two pair of sockets, a remote and a weather kit which you can use to measure temperature and read that live and historically out from your phone (or any device). It's very cheap to buy new equipment for it that will seamlessly work with the home device, 20 euro for 2 sockets and a remote, 25 euro for a socket with dim-ability etc.

There are also devices that connect with your energy source (how much energy does your house use per second etc.), with your curtains (automatically close or open them), IP camera's, motion detectors, door/window open/close detectors and much much more But let's start with the basic stuff.
  2. sounds very nice...
sooo...should we start a hacking contest? First one to manage to turn off Remy's computer wins!
  3. Hahaha, or hacks his stereo to play justin bieber at 3 am in the morning
  4. So my phone is in coma I think. It was extremely bad luck... I stepped off the bus, the cable to my headphones got stuck in something, that pulled the phone out of my pocket somehow... And swung it under the bus... I picked up the phone with tyre tracks on it.

I think I'm gonna get an LG Optimus L9. At about 230 euros it seems to be a good bit of phone for the money. Anyone who wants to protest?
  5. OMG, that's an awful lot of bad luck, but it's quite funny to imagine your face while you saw the bus actually walking over your phone It happened to me quite a long time ago with an unknown phone (black&qhite screen, huh? I mean long time ago) with the train. I still remember my horror

L9 seems to be quite trendy over here, it's taking a good part of the cake that Samsung is starting to leave due to their tech & customer service problems.
  6. I've got an Optimus 2X and I know others with Optimus phones. Decent phone, never had any problems.
  7. Unlucky Olof.

I'm STILL waiting on the Nexus 4 to come back in stock on the Google Play store. Starting to get impatient but in the long run, it's going to be cheaper.

I didn't see it actually. I walked like fifteen meters and then felt that my phone wasn't in my pocket...

All I need is a tech wiz like Remy or Chris to accept my choice for new phone now xD Then I'll feel good.

I wasn't that sad about it really. Shit happens. It's just a phone that wasn't all that expensive, would've been worse if it was an iPhone. I wasn't attached to it, it's a tool for everyday life. I'll have to ask some people for their numbers again though.
  9. Looks like a nice phone Olof! You'll be fine I think

By the way, for those more interested (or just a bit) in the whole home-automating (domotica), check out this Dutch guy: http://www.bwired.nl

He has his whole house equiped with every possible technology you can think of and it's all open on the internet. Dozens of devices to check for open windows, doors, electricity usage and much more. You can even control some of his lights from the website. Even his toilet is equiped with sensors, you can check how many times the toilet is flushed, at what time, how much water etc. It's bizarre but real nice to check. Make sure to check his "event log" as well, all the latest activity

  10. Including that Serbian girl?

Jus kidding. Shit happens. I'm just glad that you didn't actually see the actual accident happen - I used to have uncomfortable nightmares with my ran-over phone for years.
