1. Cleveland,OH 05.20.06

Show starts off with a surprise..Better Man opens.Much applause for the classic, and the crowd run with the opening chorus....solid version.Another classic,GTF follows..nice way to start this gig,one night after the epic Grand Rapids show.Ed's voice sounds good,he goes after the main chorus, and belts it out stongly.

The 3some of WWS,LW and SH sound good, but they needed to be broken up..this album wasnt strong enough to have 3 of the best tunes played all at once.

Faithfull is a nice addition,I always enjoyed this tune, and like all the songs off Yeild (and No Code),they are superior sounding live...

    Unemployable = boring,and sounds off....another long speech..skip please..

Gone is a decent tune, bad placement...

This average set takes a turn for the better here.Daughter sounds great,“It’s OK” returns as a Daughter tag (at a slightly higher pitch than previous versions) with the entire band playing a slightly different arrangement.Great buildup.Ed modifies the lyrics somewhat,“This is my plea / this is my need / this is my time for standing free / this is my stand / in this world so demanding of me”.

MFC is a good tune, decent version.Solo sounded a little bit off.Go would have been preferable here for me.But I'll take anything from No Code/Yeild,and run with it.No complaints.

Immortality has always been a favorite song of mine.A classic. No,it isnt as great as Verona,Italy 06.20.00,(or Pitt 04.26.03)...hard to top that version...still very solid here,I like Ed's slow intro....

Lukin > Evolution is a great combo..and picks the pace up...solid versions... Ed gets a big roar from the crowd during Evolution with the lyric change “Those ignorant Indians .. they’re a great team, right ?”

Spin The Black Circle speaks for itself...the classic continues this great heavy run....

The main sets ends, just as things are getting good. The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Detroit Pistons were playing each other in the NBA playoffs,so Ed was having some fun.A wild 10 min Porch includes some fun band intros,“on bass, and rooting for the Cleveland Cavaliers,Mr. Jeff Ament” and “the engine with so many horsepower there’s no number,Matt Cameron on the drumkit”,“from the jungle to Cleveland, Mr. Boom Gasper on the B3″, and “sometimes you don’t pick your friends, but he’s one of my best friends,Stone Gossard on guitar”.And thats it..around 65 min set ??? IMO,a main set should not fit on a single cd,this one does.

    Encore 1

Wasted Rerise/Thumbing My Way..this is decent...but not what I would be looking for,if I was in attendance..Thumbing My Way is played for the only time during the first leg of this tour.Ed continues to have fun with the rivalry, and says that “it’s interesting, the place we go next is Detroit and we’re in no hurry…” which starts mucho booing and Ed picks up on an anti-Detroit chant,“I got it … I can’t repeat it because of the bootlegs and all,Detroit will get a hold of it.I can say it once,"Pistons Suck’” to loud cheers

Inside Job is one of the better tunes on PJ,BUT I prefer it during the main set ....Black is amazing (as usual),with the We Belong Together tag at the end..solid version of Alive ends encore 1.

    Encore 2

A rockin version of Go kicks off the 2nd encore.I like this tune better in the main set,but its great so I always take it.Ed wants to buy everyone a drink, for being such a good crowd and plea's for the arena staff to “open up the beer stands”.

U, “Don’t Gimme No Lip” and “Smile” have the band “taking care of a couple of requests that (they’ve) been seeing” so far on Leg One.Besides the great Smile, tho other 2 are fillers IMO.Yes,Stone singing is always fun..but the tune is below average.

Why Go always sounds good... I love it,and Fuckin Up is always welcomed over RITFW.

    YL ends it.....

    4 Stars

Very short main set, just over an hour.15 tunes, and one of them (Lukin) is only 45 seconds. From Daughter > Porch this set is solid, but needed more.Smile,Why Go and Black could have been played during the main set,and raised the bar on this odd show.Encore was ok,some below average tunes in there,Comatose is not exactly Jeremy or RVM now is it.....

Highlights : Daughter (ITS OK),IMMORTALITY,Lukin > Evolution,STBC,BLACK,SMILE and Fucking Up.
  2. yeah Cleveland was quite odd in terms of "fluidity" .. short main set .. normal at first half very great after .. short first encore but with Black hehe .. long second encore ..
pretty wrong-footing (if it's the right word) hehe
  3. Seems strange that other PJ fans are annoyed that we are having fun, reviewing PJs last full tour....the band has spoiled us,as far as making all their shows available...might as well take advantage and listen to them and talk about the shows.....

To each his own I guess.....
  4. I haven't been commenting much but I check out this thread daily and read all your reviews. Keep them coming.
  5. You are welcome to join in, Nick!

We are at Auburn Hills, 2006!

  6. I do most of my Internet browsing on my phone so typing up something like that would be quite annoying! Lol. I gotta say... I come to a U2 fan site to get my news for PJ. You guys are awesome fans and are top of everything. Plus I really do enjoy the in depth reviews and Eds rants! Haha. Lets Go Rangers Ed! I'm really hoping I can meet you at a PJ show at the Garden this fall. We'll see....

Hahaa..thanks..the Rangers cant beat the Penquins..losing Cally will hurt bigtime...before almost every Rangers game (or concert) Im at either Tir Na Nog on 8th ave,or Hudson Station on 9th ave...

I have been so frustrated with PJ...that at this point,I dont know what to say, that hasnt already been said......I just go back in time and revisit their older boots, from say 2006 backwards...
  8. Wondering where they will play in the fall. What are the chances for a Seattle show? In my opinion they should have the new album finished/released for he tour right, why else even go on tour? Or is that too pessimistic

Why not review some boots of last summers European show, were an awesome few weeks

By the way, seems Soundgarden and RNDM are still involved in festivals up till June
Any chance for a Soundgarden tour in Europe?

We can do the Euro 2012 boots..that will be easy..that tour was only 3 weeks or so....we decided to take on the last full PJ tour, from 2006.. .

IMO,the European gigs from 2006 (Italy,Lisbon,Spain) are some of the best gigs the band has ever played....also the summer 2006 was amazing as well (San Fran X3,Gorge X2,San Diego,LA x2 etc)
  10. As I'm sure most of you are aware of...this weekend PJ Radio is playing a ton of songs off Yeild...as this is its 15 yr anniversary already....lots of good specials, interviews, live clips from the 98 tour......Cameron Crowe is on now, talking about Single Video Theory...
  11. Maybe they'll release some boots from '98 to celebrate the release!
