1. if you want the U2 experience I would go along with your own list Dan. Drews is great but its more of a bootleg compilation than yours.

I'm going to have to lose 8 songs I reckon (22 at moment and given most of them are 5-6mins the disc will take 14 at most). Just can't think which - it's difficult to know when you love all of them so much which would be best for a non-fan.....

  3. Finally got round to downloading this - cheers Drew!

So, I've taken some ideas I like from Drew's list and now mine is too long!!

I want this to be the essence of the U2 experience.

Anyone any more ideas for me on this one?

Oh, God. Please don't go giving me any more dilemma's!!

    This must go in really.

Ah, bollocks. Not sure it's possible on one disc. Anyone think I can do a one-disc live piece, about 14 songs?

nope. As a big U2 fan you cannot possibly pick out 14 performances. You'd have to go for a double disc wjich is a little impractical

Slowly coming to that conclusion. May leave it at the discs I've done. Ah well, it was a nice idea.
If he really likes the one's I did, then I'll revisit this again...

  10. For those who never heard U2 I'd go first with the obvious suspects, almost chronologically backwards:

1 - Get on your Boots
    2 - Vertigo
3 - Window in the Skies
    4 - Beautiful Day
    5 - Electrical Storm
    6 - Discotheque
    7 - Miss Sarajevo
8 - Hold me thrill me kiss me kill me
    9 - Stay
    10 - Mysterious Ways
    11 - Desire
12 - Where the Streets have no Name
13 - With or without you
    14 - Pride
    15 - Bad
    16 - Sunday bloody Sunday
    17 - Gloria
    18 - I will follow

This would lead to the following Vol.2:

1 - The Saints are coming
    2 - Sometimes you can't make it
3 - The Hands that built America
    4 - Stuck in a Moment
    5 - Elevation
6 - Staring at the Sun
    7 - Lemon (Single Edit)
    8 - The Fly
9 - Even better than the real Thing
10 - Until the End of the World
11 - When Love comes to Town
    12 - Angel of Harlem
13 - All I want is you (Single Edit)
    14 - I still haven't found what I'm looking for
    15 - The unforgettable Fire
    16 - New Year's Day
    17 - Tomorrow
    18 - Out of Control

So this would lead to the "less obvious" tracks on Disc 3:

1 - City of blinding Lights
    2 - Kite
3 - The Ground beneath her Feet
    4 - Gone (New Mix)
5 - Wake up dead Man
    6 - Your blue Room
    7 - Slug
    8 - Numb
    9 - The first Time
    10 - Acrobat
    11 - Ultra Violet
    12 - Heartland
13 - Bullet the blue Sky
    14 - The three Sunrises
    15 - A Sort of Homecoming
    16 - 40
    17 - October
    18 - An Cat Dubh

And this could probably be my "Best of b- sides and rarities" collection:

    1 - Mercy
2 - Are you gonna wait forever
3 - Big Girls are best
    4 - Holy Joe
5 - North and South of the River
    6 - Slow dancing
7 - Lady with the spinning Head
8 - Where did it all go wrong
    9 - Night and Day
10 - Hallelujah here she comes
11 - A Room at the Heartbreak Hotel
    12 - The sweetest Thing
    13 - Silver and Gold
    14 - Spanish Eyes
    15 - Jesus Christ
    16 - Boomerang
    17 - 11 o'clock Tick Tock
    18 - Stories for Boys (U2-3 version)

  11. Alex;

I know it's not as popular here as in the general domain, but I'm surprised not to see One in those lists at all.
