I just had a terrible thought on my way to class. What if they never release the Wembley DVD just based on the amount of people in the crowd???

And that this CD was a replacement for what the sales they were gonna make with the DVD?

I honestly doubt the direct hits CD is a replacement of their live DVD. Just knowing how long it takes for the production of a CD like this, I feel like they were working on it before their Wembley performance.

However, I will say that if they feel that the crowd isn't just right, they won't release a DVD of that particular concert. But to say that they'll release a best hits album instead of a live DVD is pretty crazy.

I hate that song. Sorry. I usually try to be more positive but I feel they are stuck in a sound that I hate.

The song is too good. It's so catchy and has a nostalgic feel.

And the fact that there are some fans that don't like the song shows that The Killers are not aiming for "relevance" (bleeding over from the U2 threads). They are doing what feels right to them and I think doing just that is what's gotten them this popular.

10 years ago, this single hit the market and changed it all for a lot of people and bands.

Most listened song EVER in Last.fm since the page was released... That says a lot.

Really don't like the new song but LOVE the video!? It's a really good video IMO I just wish the song was better, I give the song a 7.5/10 it just sounds so "ordinary" for them imo.

Oh man Mr. Brightside.... I remember listening to the radio and internet streams looking and waiting for this song to be played. I was like 11/12 years old and had excellent taste in music even back them

I don't really understand what you mean when you say the song sounds "ordinary" for them. It sounds very different from anything they've released. Obviously, it carries the 80s vibe, but I honestly don't think that's a bad thing. I find it very refreshing, actually.

Also, I heard and bought the song on iTunes before I watched the video and the video was very similar to what I envisioned them to do with the song. Really well done. Shot At The Night is probably one of the most listened to songs in my library at this point since I've had it on repeat.

A lot of the last album and part of D&A got that same 80s vibe. THey're sort of stuck in that sound, I agree with whoever posted it in this thread. It's got great lyrics but it's musically boring/old fashioned/repetitive. I mean, there's nothing wrong in sounding like A-Ha or Tears For Fears every now and then, but you have to cut it sometime. I just wish they came back a lil bit to the indie rawness of the first and second album.

Hmmm I forgot about this subforum but basically what Sergio said. It's a good song but it's not really all that different to anything off Day and Age, as I heard it I got a definite "I've heard this from them before" feeling. Not that it's a bad thing, I really like the song and video, but it's kind of same ol' same ol' from them. Wish they would expand their sound a bit imo, but I bet if I saw them live again and they played this I'd still be singing along and loving it
