I think it might be the rhythm guitar on that left channel that is demonstrating the classic OD tone I've been going for. There's no way I can't get it with my Digitech OD, if he's only using a Boss SD...I think it's time for a pickup change. Been using the stocks for 4 or 5 years now and I've replaced virtually everything else. I need something with punch.

Also finally acquiring a tube amp would help

Do get a tube amp. It'll improve your quality of life

To me now when I'm used to playing on a tube amp other ones sound horrible.

Just to make things clear: my guitar is the one that mimmicks the vocal line, his is the one that does the verse chords. The Boss DS-2 (and not my SD-1) made the biggest difference in his tone though:

That pedal wasn't mine and I didn't want to use it since it gave a little "metalic" flavour to the sound that I wasn't fond of, but many seem to dig it a lot.

Also, keep in mind that my pickups are modified single coils with Alnico V magnets, while his is a 700T humbucker with ceramic-8 magnets which, in my humble opinion, sucks

Also Matt, DO get a tube amp, your tone and playing will improve dramatically I think. I got one on the cheap months ago and even though I don't play it that much since it's a 25 kg beast that I don't feel like setting up each time I wanna play, I must admit that its tone is unique and makes me jizz. Also much better for gigging, solid state amps are just not quite there when it comes to provide the amount of juice needed to shine in a live setting.

My band Twisted Planet underwent a transformation after that album we put out last year (I uploaded it here). We couldn't find a bassist or a drummer, so for a long time the TP name became dormant...

Long story short, a friend of ours started dating a drummer, the three of us started jamming (the old band's other guitarist on bass) and things took off from there. We decided we had great chemistry as a trio so we decided to shelve the old album and start working up new tunes, because the jams were already organic and awesome. The other guitarist in the band has shelved his guitars and has taken up bass full-force, not as a guitarist playing bass, but he's been learning the instrument from the ground up, learning techniques, what the bassist's role is and so on. He's essentially reborn as a bassist, and it's worked out awesome.

This sort of 'iteration" started out in April, we've written about 6 songs since and have a bunch of jams to finish writing on top of that, and a few covers we know to boot. We just played our second show a little while ago at a restaurant where they promptly offered us a Saturday night gig in November. We're preparing for it now, and luckily a few videos taken from that second show were presentable enough to upload to youtube.

Man, what a HUGE sound. That song is not meant to be played in a small club, that belongs to a theatre or an arena. What a sound!! You guys look and sound awesome, and what a fantastic story behind your "new" (not really, but!) bassist and the drummer

Thanks a lot man! I'm totally biased but yes I can definitely hear this song and the rest of our music in arenas as well

Nice guitar riff in What You Need. Some Edge influence at the start?

Super Electric... Wow, what a beggining with the echoed guitar! What a change of rhythm at the 2 minute mark, and then a great guitar solo! What a great song overall! Lyrics for this one maybe?

Both would benefit from some cleaner recordings, but you can definitely feel the potential!

Funnily enough that rhythm change is typically much more drastic, at least in our rehearsals and how it'll be on our soon-to-be-released EP. And thanks very much about the solo! I try to not be super...not generic, but not necessarily "stock" with my solos, but I'd say this one is kinda like that, so I'm glad you think it's good!

Again, we have an EP coming out pretty soon, we're working on it now that'll feature 6 songs, and they'll be much better and we'll be putting them to good use!
