1. I still only listen to four songs from here (No Line, MOS, Fez, Cedars) and Winter the Brothers version every now and then...

I guess that would be a 4/12 grade?
  2. Best U2 album since Achtung Baby. I don't know why people don't hear that.

  3. Because there's a wonderful thing called "taste"

  4. drag the line from Achtung to Pop and i'm with you

  5. This. NLOTH vs Pop is actually a pretty hard call for me. Perhaps Pop anyway. But NLOTH is much better than ATYCLB and HTDAAB combined. I actually pretty much never listen to those albums, some songs live, but not the studio versions at all.
  6. No Line On The Horizon is nowhere near Pop, yet it is the best since.
  7. i'm in the middle between Olof and Tim

  8. Agree.

I'm on the opposite side to Olof regarding the 2000s albums, though. I rarely listen to those tracks live.
  9. NLOTH has its own value. when i listen to it, i feel like im on a travel, or watching a movie. but i cant say i like hearing magnificent, unknown caller, stand up comedy. so much noise and oh-oh-oh's. from that i upgraded my sound setup many times and these songs didnt get any better.

i said this in my beloved 2009.
  10. I honestly think it's one of their worst. Pop is a contender in terms of the actual product, because to me listening to Pop is hearing potential, not product (we've discussed many times the "what if all the songs had a new mix" thing), but in terms of the music it's one of their worst. Leave Behind and Bomb have some fantastic songs and fantastic overall themes, NLOTH is a mish mash of experimenting and chickening out, and the result isn't good. I standby that Being Born might be one of their coolest and most interesting songs since Zooropa, but in terms of stand-alone songs that are well written, exciting, and heartfelt, NLOTH isn't really there at all for me.

Songs like City of Blinding Lights or Kite can take on NLOTH easily on their own.
  11. Very well stated, Alex - and I agree.
  12. NLOTH is one of the most experimental albums from U2, just like Pop, so maybe that's the reason you love it or you hate it. It is a good but
inconsistent album in my opinion. It could have been one of their best...
