  1. It should be cheaper from Google Play. Expensive yes but due to me buying and selling I am never actually paying the full asking price. All depends on what I get for the Nexus 4. Needs to be more than half the cost of the Nexus 5.
  2. You pay that for the phone, which is actually extremely cheap for a high-end smartphone, and then get a SIM-only. I only pay £12.90 a month and I almost get unlimited everything apart from minutes. So really, it isn't that expensive after all.

    True though about cost. £300 for the device + 24 months at £12.90 = £609.

    Taking the device for free and paying £30 per month for 2 years (which is cheap for a high end device on release and would probably have an up front cost too) = £720.

    So buying the phone outright can be cheaper plus you always have the flexibility of not being tied in to a lengthy contract aneimg able to upgrade as you please.
  4. Exactly. Even then, if you go into Carphone Warehouse – who are an absolute rip-off anyway – they charge £399 for the phone (the N4 that is) and will then subsequently charge you dozens a month. You'll end up paying nearly a grand by the end of it.

    I love being with Three and having a one-month rolling contract. I can cancel when I like, not that I'm going to do that any time soon. Yeah, Three have some network issues but I can get over it. The price satisfies me enough not to leave because of that. Talking of network issues, have you ever read the Facebook page when the service is down? It's hilarious. Full of people demanding compensation because they can't call or text for six hours. Total nutjobs.
  5. 13 bucks for an unlimited data+sms contract, holy shit Everything is much, much more expensive here - both smartphones and contracts. Everything technology-related is, actually. Computers, DSL/fibre service, phones, tablets, just about everything. Worse service and higher prices - it just doesn't make any sense. Another of the reasons why I want to move out of here asap.

    I've so far found the network to be grand but the company itself have been terrible on any occasion that I've had to contact them.

    So have I. Yeah, I've read the customer service is appalling.

  8. I'm not sure if you're still talking about Three, but I've always found their customer service to be pretty good. They've made 2 mistakes in the time I've been with them and they always got it sorted out in one phone call. Hell I even called up in the middle of a contract once, asked for more stuff, and they just gave me it with no extra charge!
  9. I blame outsourcing. Get through to one of the guys in the UK and you are fine but that seems to be only once in about 5 or 6.

Huge companies (Movistar, Vodafone and Orange) have their call centers outseourced in the likes of Ecuador, Colombia and Bolivia, and getting to speak with a Spanish-based operator is a 1/10 chance or even less. THats why a lot and lot of people are moving to smaller, cheaper companies with Spanish-only crews. After all, the service you're gonna get is similarly poor to the big ones, so why pay more and have worse customer service? That was personally my main reason to move to a small company called Pepephone, which also offers free flights for their customers (every € you spend is a free € on any flight you want to take anywhere, anytime - which is pretty awesome).

    Good to hear some positivity about their customer service then. You can do that with any network though. Just threaten to leave or something like that and they'll add on stuff to make you stay.

    The bad side of customer service will be due to outsourcing, definitely. It's put to India, Pakistan, sometimes France and Italy, although the latter two aren't too bad. Barely any English spoken and they are reading it off a script.
