1. ^ indeed. Count me in for any "hoping for reunion" group
  2. Oddly enough, I'm seeing an Oasis tribute band (again!) next Friday in downtown Toronto!
  3. I don't see the appeal of tribute bands myself. I know that there are some excellent ones out there for various bands, but it's not...real. I suppose a tribute band for an inactive band is better than nothing. Enjoy it!

Get some alcohol in you and squint your eyes. They can be great fun for a fiver.
  5. Haha, that's probably the only way I'd enjoy it
  6. Yes, booze is definitely a necessity. That said, it's a pretty good show - and better than nothing!

It depends on the songs they play. I wouldn't go to a U2 tribute that plays 23 hit songs that I've heard 500 times on bootlegs, but if they play some gems that I haven't heard live by the original band, it's really worth it. Also a great way to meet other fans

I agree with this. I also don't like the idea of them covering songs from just one band, why can't the write their own songs?

However, I could admit that Gerard's stance would probably push me to see a tribute act.
  9. There are several U2 tribute bands over here that play some U2 and some originals mixed at their shows. But if I go to a U2/Muse/Oasis/whatever tribute, I wouldn't want to hear other than U2/xxx music. I'm sure the tribute band members are talented musicians bla bla, but I'm there to listen to my favorite songs, not to some unknown stuff, whatever its quality. I've been to lots of U2 tributes, also some Beatles, Zeppelin, Muse, Pink Floyd ones, and I don't regret. They're cheap, they're enjoyable and you and the band spend some great time listening to your favorite music. What else?
  10. personally my blood freezes when i listen to someone sing Bono, play Gilmour solos and so on
  11. At a low price point and after a bunch of beers, it'll be me who's doing all the singing.
  12. I understand why you go, Sergio, however I'd rather see a bunch of up-and-coming, unsigned bands of the same price. I know what my favourite songs are like, I can listen to them all the time on iTunes and I'd happily wait to see them when they come round again, or if they come around again. I don't want to see tribute acts butcher my favourite songs.
