  3. The dust has settled and I can say it's a pretty good return. Much better than GOYB was in 2009 in just every single aspect (lyrics, music, message, everything). Whether it's a musical indicator of where they're planning to go or not, I'm liking it so far, and I can only say: bring the album on!

    (or else keep working on it IN DUBLIN until I go back there for St Patrick's Day)

  5. It's a similar reinvention. Good single, will get airplay but not entirely representative of the album.

    Can't help thinking that Invisible deserves a totally different (and much better) videoclip, instead of this not-so-good 'semi-live' choreographed artificial thingy....

    Just imagine this: an Anton Corbijn-ish video with B/W images of u2 in the London Underground, like you see in this 'making of' clip.
    For some reason, I am SO longing for some serious, stylistical beauty instead of a jumping crowd of actors with mine-helmets on....
    I think it would also help U2 in being taken serious again in the eye of the public. Know what I mean?

    Agree. A slightly more meditative (?) video would suit the song and its purpose a lot better than a flashy, LCD-heavy video with little or no "sentimental background"... It's hard to put the finger on it but I totally understand and agree with you.

  11. I'm gonna disagree with that. I'm a lyrics guy myself, can't get into a song if I don't like the lyrics.
    As Bono said, it's about being in a place where you see yourself as lower than others and "invisible", trying to prove yourself but you can't, far away from home, broke, all those feelings, that's the background. Then the song starts with a "revelation", the room clears of smoke and he feels like he doesn't care at all what they think..
    For me, being in kind of a similar situation, moved to London, left home, trying to prove myself here, I really feel a connection with it.

    It is some of his best lyrics in the last decade. It has a clear positive message and delivers it with powerful words.

  12. I was referring to the Snow Patrol song. But yes I don't think the new album will be similar to Invisible. At least I hope not.
