2015, at it's very earliest, but even that isn't sure..... (oh, and no more than the usual 11 songs on it....)
  2. Fans should not be critisizing their fave band, this is the way they feel comfortable doing it, so be it, it has not failed us yet has it ?
  3. You guys are harsh.

The problem is more that U2 are critisizing themselves way to hard!

If only they could loosen up a little and have soms more trust in themselves! We are not harsh, we are telling them there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to linger any longer. Just deliver the goods now, we are going to love it anyway, because U2 is always great! Good grief, It is perfectly healthy to receive some critisism now and again, there is nothing wrong with that....

At the end of the day it's their pride that gets in the way and if they could only learn to put that aside, they would be a masterpiece and at the end of their work, real glory, from above... which is better than us mere judges..
  6. Maybe I just hate all the talk and promises about a new record. There are two options:

    1) Talk about an album and when giving a release-date, make sure you get it
    2) Don't talk about it and release it when it's done (Pharrell, Beyonce, Coldplay more or less)

U2 is opting for option 3: talk about it, talk way too much about it, postponing release dates and giving unclear reasons for its delay.

Their reasons are not unclear for the delay and who said there is a delay you make that up yourself, and they have given enough warning when it can be expected out, and I dont think talking about it is wrong, it shuts us up from the suspense.

    ^ that. ^ exactly.
  9. I'd rather have the suspense that the feelingnof deception I get every time I read those statements. They have delayed a new album for at least 4 damn years, and yet they keep announcing it and some months later they delay it. It's annoying. Sure, they can take their time. Just don't get our hopes up in vain.

And we are perfectly in a position to criticize, we are the audience. Imagine you are anxiously waiting for a new video game. It looks amazing in a preview. But they keep delaying it because they want it to be perfect, every delay changing the things you liked in the first place. When it's finally released it-'s a different game altogether, even dated, weak. Because they lost their momentum
  10. Funnily enough they're barely talking about it compared to how much they were talking about NLOTH before it came out.

The truth is no one here has been in the studio with them, and no one really knows how finished it is, so there's not much point in criticizing in that regard. Yes it's odd they haven't finished it by now, but perhaps they just had a small hiatus and/or writers block and thought it best not to tell the public. I don't think the B-man was lying when he was saying "everyone already has a stack of U2 albums, we have to have a very good reason for making another". To me that does spell insecurity. But I'd rather have a band conscious of their position than one who thinks they can just release crap every couple years just to appease the fanboys who will love anything and everything they put out. Judging by all the comments surrounding it, it just sounds like they're really thinking hard on this one and want to get it right.

I think people often forget that the band doesn't really owe you anything. They never promised you a date, they don't even have to. We choose to listen to them and await the next release. Getting impatient? There's tons of other new music to check out in the meantime.
