    The real bottom line is that there are only so many trips to the well (of creativity) you can make before it eventually runs dry.

    Perhaps that is what U2 and Eno were hinting at when they sang the William Bell classic, You Don't Miss Your Water ('Til the Well Runs Dry) in the U2.com clip during the NLOTH sessions. They were sending us a subliminal message that they don't have the goods anymore.

  3. Did I miss something? You guys were just casually talking about setlists for the next tour, then Bono mentions two albums and the whole thing turns to criticism as if they've officially postponed the album again...
    I honestly had to go back a few pages just to make sure I haven't missed anything

    This

    A new album adds just 10 tracks to the U2 discography (which consists of about 240 songs). Meanwhile a lot of other great music is being released. I don't get all the drama; there are much better ways to spend your time...

    This. Music IS emotion. I prefer a raw, spontaneous song like Exit (just a jam session!) over a polished pop-song anytime.

    Thank you for backing this up. On a forum like this, I think it's good to share opinions and give constructive critisism. It makes me sad to hear people say that we shouldn't and 'do something better with our time'..... come on, we're all on the same side here, loving U2 and just discussing all the info we can get.... aren't we?
  7. Not when it turns into doing nothing but criticizing the band for spending time working on an album. The truth is you have no idea whether or not the album is full of those jam-based tracks, for all we know it could be and they're just trying to get the right mix down for them.

    I agree completely Rattle n hum, i personally dont think you can overdo an album, polishing isn't harmful to the musical ear.

    True, and to answer some other questions: I'm completely into various other artists these days and the past months. Spending my time well

    I don't wanna be harsh, it just seems making an album is always a big fuss while it shouldn't be. And the main thing for me is actually the various stories we get to hear. As said before, when speaking of an album and a certain period of release, make sure you get it. If not, don't speak about it.

    And we're all actually very 'hungry' for new material, a new album. Maybe the anxiety is getting too big.

    Nevertheless, a good discussion and a bit of criticism is what this place is made for, for a certain part.

    That's all fair comment. I suppose the unifying aspect is that everyone wants the same thing here and that's a top U2 album.
