  2. I'd welcome a Best of 2000-2010 if they had more songs to put on there. It would just look like a poor money grab imo and if they were too include songs like Winter, North Star, Mercy that would look pretty awkward since we can probably assume that they would finish them off around the time of the compilation release.

    Half of All That You Can't Leave Behind was on 1990-2000 also so they really don't have the tunes for that compilation.

Please stop talking about another compilation, we have had 1991-2000 which included the songs from the album released in 2000, we had U218 which included songs from the album released in 2004, why would we need another best of just to include Boots, Crazy and Mag... None of these are 'best of' or greatest hits. Sorry, new album in 2014 or I'm out of here.

  5. I don´t know what to say about all this. We don´t - and we can´t - really know what´s going on in the band. Sometimes I just dream this Billboard article was intentionally made up to throw us off for a surprise announcement.

    But somethings we can infer - like we have been doing. And it´s funny that they are so inconfident... It is kind of worrying. I mean, why don´t they believe in what they have? Are they incapable or are just being way too hard on themselves?

    Someone talked about the need of deadlines. This reminded me of an analogy I often make. I study architecture and, consequently, I have to design projects. And, as a songwriter (not a good one, just a dedicated one), I make a lot of links between how it works with songs and buildings.

    The steps and the confusion I go through when I write songs are similar to the ones when I´m creating a building/house/etc... Which path to follow? Out of these 4 chords, make an acustic heartfelt song or let´s add up some beats and epic guitar to make it a bit more anthemic? Let´s make a green patio, but should I cover parts of it with this metallic structure and give it more flexibility or should I just leave it open and make it more discreet and cozy?

    What I learned is: You have to give up on somethings so things can go forward... It´s like life... When you choose, you lose... And deal with the consequences. But, most importantly, there needs to be a deadline. You can always make it better. ALWAYS. You can always try other things... But you have to finish it... Someone is waiting for it to be built, they are not going to wait forever... Time is money...

    I don´t know if I made my point clear... Or if it´s relevant... But it´s something I think a lot... There needs to be someone pushing them. Bono wanted to cancel the realease of JT when it was being printed out... I guess this is another moment of those...
  6. I agree with your theory but to them money shoudn't be everything, neither is time to a certain degree (because of fans and irrelevence)

    They did say at the end of 2009 that they had Songs of Ascent and material for 2 other albums, and they were gonna release at least one of them. And since then they keep pushing it. I'd say 5 years in the making is a good description
  9. Technically Songs of Ascent was all Bono. There were interviews where Edge and Larry got asked and the look of confusion when they were asked about Songs of Ascent tells it all, it was a pipe dream by Bono and Bono alone.

    There is definitely no need for a new compilation, they simply do not have enough material for it. That's pretty much the end of that discussion.

  12. Pop they thought was finished too early (though sounds good to me), seems they don't know how to finish this one. The constant between the two? No Brain Eno on either. I say bring Eno in and he'll whip them into shape.

    EIther way, I bet Danger Mouse is pretty annoyed at this point.
