    Who tells the biggest band in the world (his own words) to do a song NOW when it's not discussed before...

    To have an acoustic guitar, bass and a tambourine suggests it was pre-planned so the bands puzzled reaction is odd. I wouldn't say it was rude either way. Bono was saying any good song should be able to be played with an acoustic guitar so it wasn't really a massive stretch to say 'would you mind showing us then?'
  2. ^ that.

    They could have chosen another one, though... Cedarwood or EBW on guitar.
  3. I think the 'really, you want us to play acoustic, now' surprised look was acting. Pure and Simple.
    They are re applying for the job again, so a bit of humility goes a long way, hence the surprised looks, which once again, I think was an act. Of course they knew they were going to play Song for Someone acousticaly.
    The shakey vocals on SFS? I would bet that 90% of the people sat at home watching would be in awe of Bonos singing and raw emotion on the song, its only us maga fans who are super critical.
    As for the Miracle. I think that version rocked.
  4. I prefer the acoustic SFS over The Miracle performance
  5. My girlfriend thought he was mining.
  6. While the hardcore fans are supercritical of these promo performances, Joe Public out there is really liking the songs. Let's face it: these promo shows are not so much for us, but for casual listeners. The same haters on twitter are now saying that they really like Song For Someone. That's a huge success.
  7. Well just look at @atu2's retweets last night. Many of them in the form of "I don't really like U2 but...(something positive)"
  8. Exactly. They finally gave themselves a chance to listen to the songs, and oh, surprise, they are actually good.
  9. Turns out there weren't as many RT as I thought, but these show the point being made:

    @ADE1728
    @grahnort WOW!! Never really been a fan of U2. But seeing them rock out on the sofa AMAZING!!! Extremely talented chaps!

    @Des_Reid
    Not a fan of u2 but that acoustic set on @grahnort tonight blew me away #u2

    I still rather see them going out and play Sleep Like A Baby Tonight But your right, only thing I think is stupid is that people now hear the weakest songs of the album, imo ofcourse, while there are many great songs on there.

    Visually it looked absolutely stunning. U2 worthy. Bono was a bit out of breath but they looked absolutely tremendous. Edge sounded spot on and dirty. Bravo

    SfS sounded brilliant.

    Joe Public is truly a fickle being. After literally biting the hand that fed them the new album, it seems like they are happily scrambling for the crumbs left on the floor.

    But yes, the promo tour isn't for us. I'm just glad to hear them play again.

    Also, I'm pretty sure the band knows about all the hardcore fans that are saying "No Acrobat? What a disappointment."
