1. There's no way they'll split. He says this every time they put out an album.

The only reason they would split is because Chris Martin finally got to be Bono and going back to his own band just doesn't feel the same
  2. They need to do a proper Achtung Baby, I would say. A complete reinvention. Change everything. Get really rocky, like that live version of God Put A Smile Upon Your Face, but also have some slower numbers like Love Is Blindness, then they'll stay surprising and relevant.

Ghost Stories, even though it is a really good album and gets better upon further listens, shows a band that is starting to run out of ideas.

And I agree Cal, every person that comments on NME is just a fan of Arctic Monkeys and hates everybody like U2, Coldplay, Pearl Jam, etc. NME just loves mocking these sort of bands.

You're on the wrong thread then, my friend...

  4. haha

Now I've read into it, NME is talking bullshit as usual. The Wanker just said that this next album is going to be "the end of something"... Which sounds awfully similar to Bono's speech on 1989-12-30: "I was explaning to people the other night, and I might have been gotten a bit wrong... This is the end of something for U2, that's why we're playing this concerts - we're throwing a party for ourselves and you. It's not big deal, we just have to go away and just dream it all up again".

Of course, they could be in the verge of breaking up - but so were U2 before One came From The Sky Down... If you all get what I mean.
  5. That's actually a really good point. The only mention of them breaking up came from the article's title.
  6. ^ Exactly. The 'end of something' could be they're searching for a new sound, perhaps they're going to do solo projects to get some energy back...who knows. Sounds similar to what Bono said in 2006: 'this is the end of....something...we need to find new things, new sound etc'.

No way Coldplay will go just like that.
  7. fucking UK press love a misleading headline, i normally only come across it during EPL transfer rumors.
  8. The only reason this rumor holds any weight is if any of the band members want to settle down with their families.

But otherwise, Coldplay is cashing out like crazy. The put Ghost Stories back into the spotlight with their new concert film/live CD. I'm a bit sad they didn't do a big tour in support of Ghost Stories, but maybe they decided after experiencing tour fatigue from Mylo Xyloto that it would be better for them to only do small shows.
  9. I bow to Bowie

During David Bowie's long hiatus prior to releasing The Next Day, the singer would sporadically reappear to contribute background vocals for artists like Arcade Fire, TV on the Radio and Scarlett Johansson. However, when Chris Martin attempted to recruit Bowie to contribute vocals to a song Coldplay was working on, Bowie rejected the collaboration because the track wasn't good enough.

  10. New song for the film, Unbroken.

Sounds pretty good if you ask me.
