OK, if you define it that way, than there's no spam here indeed.
Except that legendary topic that DEA Agent paolom3 started.

I still get a laugh out of that one.

I have no problem with that. But I think it's pretty weird if these people are afraid that others might spam...

Whilst I take your point and obviously recognise myself in there, I would consider all the things you mention as harmless fun and getting optimum enjoyment out of the forum. Of course it does no-one any good to stray off topic for too long but it is only human nature for conversation, discussion and debate to go off at tangents from time-to-time. As is japing and fooling around.

This is not the same as needless self-aggrandisement or promotion. Neither is posting once or twice within a thread the same as starting a completely new utterly pointless thread. That was the concern of the post to which you refer in your quoted post above and the one preceding it.

Edit note I wrote this before all the following posts were added but never got around to posting it. So if it seems like raking up old stuff from the previous page that's why.
I think it's important to stay on-topic as much as possible but if we referred back to the Chat topic for every off-topic point (post-counts etc; most of today's posting ) then we would be clogging up the thread just as much with "please refer to the chat topic for my reply".
Half the attraction to me of this forum is the brevity with which pretty much everything is treated. It's fun.

BTW How far off-topic are we now..

Good job with this one Dan.

I think that's the main difference in our opinions: I can ignore a topic if I can tell from the topic title that I'm not interested - but if I'm attracted by the topic title I find it annoying when I have to crawl through 3 pages of yadda yadda.

Again, I have no problem with the off topic post. I go off topic in many topics, too. I just think it's unfair to point the finger on certain members while we're doing the same.

I see what you mean. It's a waste of time to have to search through a bunch of off-topic posts, just to find what you were looking for. Is this what you mean? Sometimes, I'll see a new thread, and it has 11 pages. And I think "Oh, this looks interesting." But then I find out most of it is just chatting. I'm guilty of it myself.

This is a very valid point and in principle I agree with you. Just where do you draw the line if 4-5 people start going off-topic in a conversational style where by the time you've replied 2 other replies are down too? Who says Stop and let's move? That's what happened today in this thread (and is still happening I guess, although the discussion is fueled by a post relevant to topic) and the autocue one. I agree that if you log on later in the day it would be a nightmare trying to filter it through. The only salvation is that most of it is relatively amusing.

As far as I'm concerned anyone can post what they like as long as it's decent and in-offensive to all parties. We just need to try and keep it as organised as we can.

Yep. Last relevant post to topic was 1.06 pm.

To summarise for anyone wanting to look at this thread, sadb wanted to suggest we have a list for the top-contributors of best live song performance (like we do for top posters etc). The consensus was that this would unlikely work, but something that is being considered is a contribution for a bootleg to give feedback on it's quality and performance (to start with this may originate from the Bootleg Round Table). Several of us have since spent the rest of the thread discussing other, un-related matters.

haha (and the responsible crew member fucks the topic up even further by saying haha)

Though sadb's issue or query was resolved so whats the problem with hijacking and spamming this thread? Saves us doing it to another
