Not to be a negative nancy, but really? I find Adam's playing way more vibrant and full of character in the earlier U2 albums. Back when Edge used to say Adam played lead bass and Edge played rhythm guitar. Maybe that's just me though.

  3. No, it's not just you, Alex.

  4. Yes. This has grown on me so much. I remember some saying right when the album came out that this song was sort of the "theme" for understanding SOI as a whole. It's definitely become my go-to song from this album, and I hope it plays a huge role in the upcoming tour. I'm sure it will go off live.

Also, starting with Cedarwood and going through The Troubles, this album has the best ending of any album since Pop.
  5. I really like the acoustic version of Cedarwood Road. In fact, I like basically all of the acoustic songs from the bonus CD. U2 have done countless acoustic songs during their tours, but they've never done an "acoustic session" to be mixed and released in studio album quality. Some of their acoustic options were quite obvious (Every Breaking Wave and Song For Someone), but the others were also quite good, especially Cedarwood Road.

  6. Me too . The song that was growing in me is Raised by Wolves
  7. I still love SOI. In the car I always listen to SOI.

The first songs are great singing together with Bono.

Cedarwoord Road is my favorite, the album version. Curious how Bono is doing live the vocal part in the middle of the song.

Raised by Wolves also one of my favorites, I hope for a heavy guitar live version.
  8. I think they are going to perform Cedarwood Road acoustically. Or at the very least the vocals will resemble the acoustic version and not so much the album version.

The nice thing about acoustic sessions that they force you to perform the songs in a live-ish setting (as in without any sort of vocal modifications). I think U2 used the acoustic sessions to practice making adaptations to their songs to make them more live-friendly. You can see this in California. The live performances we've seen of the song are a bit of a hybrid between the album and acoustic versions, with Bono seeming to favor the lyrical style he used in the acoustic version.
  9. I do like cedarwood road, lyrically and melodically (is that a word?), but I feel like there is too much going on middle to end of the song. it's absolutely laden with guitars and whatnot, it doesn't sound very clear and hurts my ears (literally). live, if not acoustic, it's probably gonna be stripped down a lot, so I'm still giving it a chance.
  10. In generally I am not a big fan of accoustic songs, but sometimes it works live.

Speaking of Cedarwood road for me I hope this song is not ending like Acrobat, Red Hill miningtown, Wake up dead man, Do you feel loved, never played live or a good live version played.
  11. I definitely prefer electric version of Cedarwood Road...
  12. So regarding the next single...
