Both have similar subject matter, and both would lend themselves well to a big orchestral arrangement (RBW acoustic version and Please single version) Have there been any further reports about U2 taking additional musicians with them on tour, or were those just rumors earlier?
The last U2gigs article says that a small string section left the arena today, so looks like that is something thats gonna happen.

I think it sounding 'incomplete' was more of a blessing, because they spent so long on the album in the end that it would probably come across as overcooked more than anything.

Besides, those remixes of Best of 1990-2000 didn't really impress apart from 'Gone', which was better than original. The original 'Discotheque' and 'Staring at the Sun' were better.
  3. Most of the Pop remixes amounted to nothing more than a patch job. It sucks to say it, but they really should have worked to get it right the first time.

Agree...worst thing on that disc was the remix of Numb though...
  5. to me pop is perfect the way it is, no adjustments needed.
  6. Me, too. I like how it simultaneously has a shiny exterior (the album artwork, the dance-influenced arrangements, PopMart) as well as a dark interior (the lyrical wrestling with God, the "unfinished," rough around the edges sound of some of the songs, PopMart again...). I feel as if the very fact that the album wasn't completed to the band's liking actually contributes to its sound of "starting at a party and ending at a funeral" or "wanting to make an album about a party but coming in at the after-party" as the band has described it before.

Anyway...I'm hoping for at least one Pop song to make an appearance. Even if that previous setlist picture was fake, it'd be nice to hear something like "Gone" regularly again. I still keep thinking about Raised by Wolves --> Please, though...
  7. couldn't have said it better, bpt exactly the vibe I'm getting from the album as well and I love it.
  8. I've thought about writing a review for Pop as U2's best album and putting it up on my blog.
  9. 18 days away, The suspense is killing me.
  10. I'm going to interpret this as "Pop can't be improved by any adjustments."

It is what it is, but perfect isn't the word I'm going to use for it.

Yeah they ignored Pop for so long now during all their previous tours, it's time to do with Pop what they did with the early stuff. Revive it.
  12. I agree with a Pop-comeback.
But I doubt if it fits with the SOI-tracks... Pop isn't that innocent.
Bring it back when they enter stadiums !
