  2. Yes! I like this idea. Of course I'd be up for Pop in arenas, too (on night 2, the "experience" night?) but hearing some of those songs outdoors in an even bigger setting sounds great.
  3. Is it me, or has this been the weirdest lead up to a tour , ever? I understand the lack of publicity due to Bonos injury but holy shit. I mean we have no idea at all about the stage, no idea about the whole N1, N2 thing and nothing about having or not having supporting acts. The fact how most dates aren't sold out is also pretty hard to believe , although I'm sure the terribly high prices have a lot to do with it. Is it only me?

    It's already so long ago since the last few tours that I barely can remember how that went. But yeah it's pretty strange but also exciting! Love the fact we get to now all of it on one (or two) days.
  5. I'm just incredibly excited and looking forward to whatever they have in store for us (and hoping everything runs as smoothly for them as it can - break a leg, guys! but you know, not for real, not again with the breaking of limbs ).
  6. I don't remember if U2 hyped up their Elevation/Vertigo tour stage setups. Obviously it's impossible to hide something as massive as The Claw, so they took advantage of that fact to hype the crap out of it. Bono's injury obviously dealt a massive blow to their promotional efforts.

    Regarding the fact that many shows aren't selling out, I think most of us were spoiled by the relative abundance of cheap tickets that their 360 tour provided. I don't think people realize the levels of logistical genius that 360 was able to achieve. They sold out so many 360 shows in large part due to the curiosity of having a massive spaceship docked in a stadium, but also due to the huge availability of cheaper tickets. This stems from the fact that 360 was able to increase the floor capacity of each venue. With more GA tickets (which almost always sell out), management can afford to drop the price tiers of all the other tickets.
  7. Bono's injury definitely affected the amount of promotion. And yet, as we are now less than 3 weeks away until the tour opener, I feel like I'm getting more excited about the prospect of knowing basically nothing until May 14!

    Which makes me wonder if I want to still keep looking and posting in the Spoiler topic...Don't get me wrong, I loved following the setlists of 360 in Europe all summer back in 2009 before I saw the show opening night for North America in Chicago. It made the excitement level build. But after knowing virtually nothing for sure about I & E at this point still, part of me wants to show up at the United Center on June 28 and have absolutely no idea of what they'll play.

    I'm guessing most of the rest of folks on here have made up their minds about this long ago, but anyone care to share their thoughts as the big day approaches?

    I hear you. But in 2011 when I was trying to avoid setlists I had to go so far as to unfollow U2 sites on Twitter and everything. I think I'll follow along. Why not?
  9. When I showed up at Angel Stadium on June 18th 2011, none of the setlists from the past two years prepared me for what they had in store.
  10. No rehearsals yesterday. Think U2 had a day off on Sunday!

    Wondering though if they'll make the same mistakes as for the 360 tour. Over-rehearsing all new songs and then unable to properly play the old ones (such as One).
  11. I'll follow it all as much as I can as that might be the only way I can follow this tour (no ticket yet) - not gonna miss a thing

    i mean u2 is not a touring band as metallica or bruce springsteen with the e street. they need to get warmed up. for me that means see a show later at the tour it will be much better than the ones before.

    to point it the other way saw them last time 5th show in paris and it was not the best show I've seen from u2 (to write it nicely) but when they returned to europe a zear later it seemed like the band had change 180degrees in their live performance.

    so for me I do not expact any great shows befor this tour hits europe or at the end of the us leg.
