1. in the fallon interview adam mentioned it's gonna be two albums SOI and SOE - you guys think the 3-album-thing (ie SOA) is off the table again?
  2. I think it is

Was there some kind of a fight?

Maybe both sides considered that the partnership gave everything it was supposed to give and decided to explore different horizons? They certainly kept a good relation. Plus, U2 exhaust their producers with their perfectionism. Probably Lanois just thinks "I'm too old for this s.... stuff".

Actually "there was", regardless what my forum mates have told you Brian Eno (and to a lesser extent Daniel Lanois as well) was underwhelmed -and some even say, annoyed- by the band regarding NLOTH as a "failure" album. I mean, most of the fanbase liked the album but it obviously didn't reach the masses like The Bomb or Leave Behind had done, so the band understood it as a false step. Eno and Lanois obviously didn't like that attitude towards the album they had worked on so hard for years and there were a couple of crossed quotes I can't be arsed searching for

I was arsed but couldn't find it !!
  7. I found an article where Eno said he fell out with U2 for a while as he was unhappy that it said Music by U2 under each song on ATYCLB and he felt that he deserved credit for coming up with some of the musical parts. (Sorry I can't copy and paste it as it's a scan of a magazine article).

    Did not know that.
But I suppose the issue was resolved as they worked together on NLOTH. I'm guessing the reason they arent working together now is U2 wanting something new and different. NLOTH didnt do so well commercially and sent them into this relevance insecurity thing.

    I'm with Eno on this....
In NO way NLOTH was a failure album!
    (well, except 'Boots' maybe... )
  10. It was a failure, and it was their fault that it was.
In a last minute edit they decided to change it from a concept album to a regular one. This totally fucked the flow of the album, the tone of the album, and Anton Corbjin's Linear ---> See : The guy eating Paella to Fez - Being Born.

  11. NLOTH could have been so much richer if they went 'Soon' for the feel of the album.
It would have been Moroccan, in a rich and textured way that songs like 'Breathe' just do not cut.
  12. Andy Barlow of Lamb is brilliant, and would have been a perfect choice for 'Songs of Ascent' or the original, concept, NLOTH.
