They did mentioned it in the promotion of the show, that they were working on creating two shows with a different feel to it.

They never mentioned different setlists at all. Most of the speculation was around acoustic-electric.

Whatever it was, they DID changed their mind anyway. A few days before the 1st show they mentioned in the NYT article that they had changed their minds about that and instead of 2 different shows, they decided to create 2 different halves in every show (I believe it's safe to assume that the 1st half -leading up to SBS/Wolves was planned as show 1 -innocence-, and the second half -leading up to Bullet/Pride was intended to be show 2 -experience-), so that everyone got both sides of the show instead of missing on one or the other.

In that same article they mentioned that it would be a fixed 1st half (just 1 of the first 12 songs rotates) and a more flexible second half (5 out of the last 12 songs have rotated).

So in the end, yes, people may have bought tickets for two shows expecting them to be more different than what currently is.

Sorry again for insist, but why would you expect differences on more than 2 shows? I agree on the expected differences from night 1 to night 2... but why would you expect night 3 or 5 to be any different from night 1?

and they're still fulfilling that expectation, imo.

if people wanna be disappointed about that, fine. I'll be over here enjoying every second of their tour, no matter what

Then that has nothing to do with the "promoted 2 different shows" argument.

And I'd say that they DID threw a few bones for the people that went to the whole LA run. That's why I find weird that people don't think that that's good enough.

From those quotes, it seems to me that they considered it but it was never set in stone and they clearly stated that it could all change.

saw 3/5 from the forum. bought the tickets before the announcement.

i don't feel burned in the slightest but also opted for the lower price level tix and worked upgrade angle each night.

however, i think the 5/30 swap songs in 2nd set were sorely lacking, although that show had excellent energy

from what i saw 5/27 > 6/3 > 5/30

Dude. It's my opinion that there wasn't enough variation in 5 shows at the same venue to get ME excited to see that many shows. Ok? When I made the initial comment I was venting on a board that I come to all the time. I didn't expect to run into their lawyer. Glad you're happy with the variation but believe or not, some other people aren't. Damn. Enough. Back to the la shows discussion....

Playing devil's advocate, though, I agree that it was misleading and they did admit that they changed their minds.
I just insist:
*It was better this way.
*This doesn't cover any expectations for shows 3 to 8, and...
*They are still bringing enough rotation to the setlists
