And haven't all their tours been a greatest hits show? They rarely play curve balls or unknown songs. They usually play 4-7 from the album they're promoting, plus 15-20 hits from previous albums. Obviously, the share each album gets after each tour gets diminished as they have more albums (=more songs) to choose from, but that's their basic formula - and IE Tour is no exception I think. 360 Tour looked like an ATYCLB revival in 2009 and 2010, then an Achtung Baby revival in 2011 - while retaining most of the pre-90 hits like I Will Follow, WOWY, Pride, Streets, Still Haven't Found, AIWIY, etc. It's always been like that. Even Popmart and Zoo TV, both of which featured their respective albums prominently, had around 7-8 staples from the new albums, filled with 15 other hits from past times. IE is the same up to now: 6-10 new songs, and 12-15 hits from the past.

The difference is that there's no unknown oldies for the diehards this time (The Ocean, An Cat Dubh/Into The Heart in Vertigo Tour; Ultraviolet, The Unforgettable Fire, Your Blue Room in 360), which I guess has stung our setlist criticism even further
I'd argue that the difference is that I&E is the first tour to have a prominent theme and narrative since Popmart. You could argue that U2 have that in mind for every tour, but to me everything since then has sort of just been a "concert" in the traditional sense. There's nothing wrong with that, I loved 360 - but there's a huge difference between saying "let's go up in our spaceship" once or twice throughout a show and what they're doing now.
  2. Hahaha, I wish! I seem to remember the actual person writing a letter about it or something.
  3. I would agree with that, BUT the fact is that Electric Co already had the "unknown oldie" spot back in 2005 y'know? They could have brought back Twilight or 11O'CTT for that same spot, so there was still an unknown oldie for the diehards, and they didn't repeat the Vertigo Tour trick.
  4. Great point.

Never thought I'd hear Electric Co once Vertigo Tour ended. Thank god they have the sense to know it's an absolute powerhouse live.
  5. What's the riskiest song in the set?

Honestly - and it's a cheap move - but the "rare" bone they're throwing us this time around is having The Wanderer as an intermission piece. I would say the majority of people in every arena have no idea that it's even a U2 song at all.
  6. hahaha, someone at a Spanish forum (a real moaner) said the other day: "the song I'm wishing to see the most from this crap setlist is The Wanderer".
  7. Overheard the guy behind me last night say "Sounds like Lou Reed - wouldn't be surprised, they love that guy"

I was like "....this is on Zooropa"

    You were like

    "....U2 wrote miami"
  9. The sound during "Wanderer" was a little low-quality last night - I believe they were playing the song from a vynil.
