1. It's also important to note that this video is to serve as the prequel to a mini-series focusing on that specific relationship. Very fitting.
  2. Yea, I got the connection, nicely done.

Are we getting a shorter version as a music video soon? Like EBW...
  3. I wish they did a radio mix to incorporate the "I know there are plenty of reasons to doubt/if there is a light/don't let it go out" lyric change live; which I love.
  4. They should just release live singles.
Anyway they're not releasing them physically and it's not like they're trying to "sell" the album. They're live versions would help them to be a bit more relevant.
  5. Great video of an underrated song. Glad they are taking risks and make an artistic statement. Alex, Joyce: love your posts, very insightful.

I think we very well might get something like that. Subscriber special download, of course.
  7. The worst video of u2 , in my opinion, it's forced, not in line with the movie.
Best video ever "windows in the sky", fantastic. "Winter" in the contest of "linear" is more emotional, like the entire film. The only thing is when the ex prisoner opens his little book and there are pics of irish flag and her daughter, nothing else. The band edited hundred videos much better than "song for someone". I'm sorry for my english but i hope you will understand the meaning of my thoughts. Bye
  8. Why do you think that?
  9. Not every video has to be multimedia extravaganza. This song doesn't suit that style. This is a song about practically anything you want to be: a estranged relation with someone that used to be special, your first love, etc.
The actors are conveying the story very well. Not with words, but with awkward silences, looks, body language. The song fits very well the message of the film: if there's a light, don't let it go out. The guy wants to recover his relation with his daughter, he doesn't want to give up. It's going to be tough, they are practically strangers now, but he wants to hold on to that light.
    I quite liked the video.
  10. There was a "single" version released for Every Breaking Wave. It was the "radio edit" version that is a nice version of the acoustic + full orchestra version, with the full band coming in. U2.com subscribers were able to download it, but I don't know if it was ever released for purchase. I just have a feeling that they might release something similar for Song for Someone since it is their next single.

Also, regarding the actors involved I think it's very cool that the father and daughter are also father and daughter in real life.
  11. Is it confirmed that SFS is their next single?
  12. I thought it was confirmed somewhere, but given how they aren't promoting physical singles it's really hard to say.
