1. Lol, do not alter the mix in any form, unless you turn up the guitars

  2. Can somebody please give me an ELI5 on how do the whole "singles" work? how do they determine how much any single should be played in a radio station? how do they know which are the "favourite" singles? based on phone calls to request the songs? based on single's sales? it seems to me that that works more the other way around - the more a song is played for whatever reason, makes more people like it and so request it more often and buy it.

For instance, now there's a video of SFS... people is asking for the song in radio stations more than last week? or is just that the radio stations are deciding on their own that they'll give it a couple of extra spins this week?

It sounds a lot like a chicken-egg situation to me.
  3. Basically... If you listen to a lot of traditional radio, you'll notice that you hear pretty much the same 15 songs every hour on the hour. These are the songs that labels bought and paid for. Money determines rotation, sadly... Although no one will admit it because hey, payola is a thing of the past!

"According to Interscope, it is the number one most added again track to radio." - My guess here is that Interscope is putting money into this. Triple A radio has a little more freedom at station level, so they probably have been following this there for awhile. Once they decided to take the plunge and get the video run on Sundance at primetime, and based on success it has been having at Triple A, (and probably looking at viewer ratings from video airing) they may have decided to invest at the next level... Hot AC.

Of course, this is all just speculation!
  4. Thanks for the explanation, BEB... but if money has a lot to do with it, why U2 is not getting -a lot- more air time? Apparently too many.
  5. Anywhere we can hear the new mix? Without asking for official material....
  6. It was promised, but never delivered! I read it had something to do with a usb drive being flown from LA to Australia?
  7. It was aired on the Hamish and Andy launch show. I tuned in about half an hour too late to record it unfortunately. The very briefest of clips can be heard on their podcast, but the pair of idiots talked through much of the intro which sounded no different to me.
  8. This sounds like that time Bono's plane randomly started dropping luggage mid-flight and I thought he would come out and say something like "We had Songs Of Experience ready to go, but the only master copy was in the suitcase that fell out of the plane. Sorry guys!"

  9. ...is this "legit" ? (for radio promo perhaps?)
