1. I prefer Beautiful Day, but Vertigo is also a great shaped straight hard rock song.
  2. Beautiful Day
  3. Beautiful Day was the first song that really got me into U2, so for that reason I'm gonna have to say that it's better than Vertigo
Beautiful Day also has a better overall feeling to it
  4. For me, Beautiful Day is more uplifting and stands the test of time as a classic, even though I've always enjoyed Vertigo as a fun, hard rocker.

I totally understand how some hard-core fans would find it boring. I have thought this at times in the past. However, when I take a break from it and return to it, I find it to be a VERY powerful & uplifting song, both live and studio versions.

    ...

    I would propose comparing:
    1. Beautiful Day vs. City of Blinding Lights (uplifting, softer rock)
    2. Elevation vs. Vertigo (fun, gritty distorted rock)
  5. IMO Beautiful Day and Vertigo are quite different songs.

Vertigo is just for "fun", while BD is a much deeper song with a lot of sense.

My favourite Beautiful Days are Live 8, Vertigo Munich and Vertigo Saitama last night.

That would be interesting. But I would prefer the ones from All That You Can't Leave Behind. Elevation is way groovier than Vertigo.

  11. I love Beautiful Day more than Vertigo since it has a more sentimental meaning with the music and the lyrics. Even the snippets Bono added during the Vertigo Tour made the songs meaning evolve to many different things wherever they went. I especially love the new extended outro The Edge, Larry, and Adam came up with since it makes the song feel more powerful! It has evolved so far away from its studio counterpart its incredible.

Vertigo is just a typical hard rock song which is great as well. The snippets what Bono adds are pretty cool but its more poppier then Beautiful Day. I love Beautiful Day much more since the depth in the lyrics is great whereas Vertigo you don't get much depth.
