  3. "I'm an American." - Bono
  4. Absolutely. Bono is such an inspiring man.His spirituality, education, lack of ignorance, humanitarianism, humbleness, and political stances are things I've looked up to since I was young. He grew up thousands of miles away from where I did, but when he preaches, he knows what he's talking about and he really cares. Watch the video of Walk On live from Madison Square Garden a month after 9/11 when he brings FDNY up onstage. That's no gimmick, that's him loving America.
  5. He knows what's up, which is why politicians take him seriously, listen to him and are won over by him. And he cares enough to win them all over for the cause. Not just left. Not just right. All... Political views take a back seat for the greater cause. What kills me is he can win over people like Jesse Helms and yet there are still so many dumbasses here that are fans and still don' get the message!

But I digress... This is a U2 forum! Love is the higher law!
  6. Just because Bruce can play a 3-hour concert doesn't mean he still sounds good. Just sayin', every time he tries to sing a song now (at least from what I've seen) it just sound awful, like he's struggling the entire time. I wouldn't say that about Bono though, I think he still sounds great most of the time. He knows when he can no longer sing a song and they either change it or they don't bother at all.

I've never liked Springsteen's music and never understood why people love him so much though. I just think it's bland, unimaginative and so blue-collar it's cringe-worthy. Not that there's anything wrong with being blue-collar, but he's not.

That's one of the things I love about Bono. Confession time: I'm VERY conservative.

And its frustrating that so many entertainers are extremely liberal, and are just so dismissive of, and treat conservatives with such disdain.

I think it was in 2004, Bono was on with Bill O'Reilly, and they were discussing George W Bush. Bono had many positive things to say about W, due to the tremendous amount of money W was pushing to Africa for anti-AIDS programs.

And it as so refreshing to hear an entertainer just talk like a normal person and recognize the positives.

(NOTE: I'm NOT trying to start a political debate. Thanks.)

You shouldn't try to understand, either... I'm not a huge fan, but I understand peoples love for him and his contribution to music. And his undeniable dedication to the live show and audience.

Hell, I don't get shit like the Dead, Dave Matthews Band, Phish or most of the garbage music that dominates the charts today, for that matter... But who am I to judge? I'm a U2 fanatic.

I used to make fun of Deadheads, until I realized I was travelling around following U2...

    One, but not the same!
