  3. For most folks, I think it'll come down to "sure we want quality, but we also want new and cheap."

    It's like the engineer's mantra--"fast, good, cheap. Pick two." And many folks are willing to pick just fast & cheap.

    And if you want *great* recordings, at least the kind that require good post-production mixing, then you throw out the fast & cheap components entirely.
  4. I am not running anywhere or see the "evidence" as you call it likeasong as "overwhelming" and "undeniable". As I said: Any "common conclusion" from this thread here is not representative or any indication of what most people think is right and wrong, especially about my work.
    I could show you my inbox and you would be overwhelmed but...you know that deep down.
    In this thread here the usual few "suspects" with strong opinions about these matters comment. I can talk to hoserama in civil ways. Always have. Always will. There have been exchanges of nasty words in private with Chrisedge but he leaves me alone (as it seems) and he does comment here in civil ways.
    I am sorry if I am totally wrong with this but the only person here who is not talking in civil ways in my opinion is you, likeasong.

    I can only assume that it was also you, likeasong, who was amongst the very few people who sent a message to u2gigs regarding the Cologne videos.
    In that case you are ruining it for everyone here including yourself! Where does all your hate and anger come from? I offered to upload all my multicams in dvd/blu-ray/mkv format. The only thing I wasn't going to do is shoot a concert and have someone else edit it. Yes, in my opinion that would have been a waste of my efforts and a concert I'd better just enjoy and don't record.
    Sorry if I got you all wrong and I'm only writing stupid stuff that ain't true.
    Anyway. Still, after all the shit that happened, the bans and the threats I was still considering to upload my multicams for free. But the people who sent a message to u2gigs sealed the deal. I am not going to release the shows in HD.
    Yes, I think that one of the persons was you, likeasong. In that case you and whoever else did so you even ruined it for yourselves. And that is besides the fact that less sources mean less quality. I am pretty sure you expect my blu-rays to be sold and since you are eager to have a copy you would have eventually got it from somebody. Oh but wait, that means you may have had to pay for b+p! Oh no!!!!!
    Likeasong, it seems to me like you shout at any given possibility whenever something is not for free, yet you download tons of stuff but I (almost) never see a thanks from you in written form on the stuff you download. Oh, I forgot, you call yourself a taper now, too, and of course, a taper does not have to thank another taper.
    I will call you a taper once you do a recording someone who is not a total fanboy can actually listen to. Going to a show with lended equipment and singing and clapping along is not what I call being a taper but a waste of resources/equipment. Give that gear to someone else who can stand still and is willing to sacrifice his or her own enjoyment of the show for others.
    Am I wrong with all of this, any of this? Then I am terribly sorry.
    In either case I hope it will be possible from now on to all mind our own businesses.
    Why I leave this thread? Because no new things were said and will be said. Everybody made their point. I made mine. Nothing more to say. You will continue to not understand, even punish/blame and attack the people who sell their recordings and I will continue my way, too, better said: I have to if I want to release some more videos in the future. I don't know how you guys pull it off to make thousand of hours room for working on a mix and not get compensated for your time. Give me some tips! Man, my official job needs to be paid MUCH better and workhours need to be MUCH less.
    Oh and Chris, given our talks and knowing how many shows you filmed your statement can't be true regarding that you share almost all your shoots. It looks to me like you almost share nothing. Sorry if I got that wrong!

    I will not comment on any more posts here, any torrents, any quality "issues" and I will not sell my U2 videos. I hope that is enough for everybody here to leave me alone and give me some peace. Thanks. Olli. Out.
  5. Terribly glad to see you coming back to the thread you said you were out of. If you can't keep your word on such an easy task as "I am off this thread now.", I can only imagine how hard should be not selling U2 shows after saying you wouldn't


    I won't address all your remarks regarding me, I couldn't care less (I can do if you want, no problem) about your opinions on myself, just this one to clarify since it seemed to bother you in some way:

    That was not aimed at you, because you just cover your costs and get paid for your time, and you don't make money from naive fans................. Or do you?!?!?!

    And this one: I didn't contact U2gigs or anyone regarding Cologne. In fact, it was them (and a few U2torrents and U2start users) who contacted me and informed me about the whole Cologne multicam issue, which I wasn't aware of in the first place. But no, I couldn't care less about who sends or stops sending you their raw files so you can make your super-hiper-duper multicams. Believe me: Could. Not. Care. Less. I don't download multicams anway nowadays so no, I didn't lose anything with you stopping the project, and I wouldn't have won anything with you completing it either.


    Nevertheless, I/we never meant to bug you - nobody forced you to post in this thread - nobody forced you even to take a look at it. You did it all by yourself, so there you have all your peace you can possibly wish for. Byeeee

  7. Oh and the whole idea of any seller having 100's or 1000's of happy customers, people that love what you do, etc...Well No Duh! If there wasn't a market and people wanting it, you wouldn't have sales!

    One thing sellers usually have in common = massive egos (they are helping the sick and ill, to enjoy their master works of art) Olli & U2RMW certainly fit this description...

  9. Olli what you are doing at the moment is only fuelling or stirrung up a conflict and this may not considered a constructive contribution.

    You are looking for sincere gratitude? Free a dog or cat from a pet shelter and take them to your home...

    Also looking at my record of sharing vs not...This doesn't count attempts at taping in the 80's and early 90's where I didn't walk away with anything complete or even close.

    24 U2 shows recorded in someway 1997-2015
    Recorded Audio / Shared = 22 / 15
    Recorded Video / Shared = 11 / 3 (video started in 2009 - 2015)

    So a grand total of 7 shows I didn't share audio-wise going back to 1997:
    4 from this tour (Only one of which is complete and error free)
    1 from PopMart that has a MUCH better source around
    1 Elevation Tour recorded under a chair in the rafters (It didn't get kicked around)...
    That leaves exactly ONE show, I've really "Sat On" audio wise...and there is multiple fantastic sources of it...

    I have more reasons for not sharing video, and some of it has to do with editing, control, other sources if mine suck, etc...you can bitch about that if you want.

    At least I never sold any of them...

  11. U2gigs was going to contribute to the Cologne multicam, until someone told Matt/U2gigs that Olli usually sells his multicams. Then he withdrew. At least that's what I've heard.
