1. Wow, the new songs sucks, I thought Coldplay couldn't get any worse.
  2. yep
  3. Hope they split if they have to release these kind of songs........ first albums and shows were great now they have to tour in the middle schools ,craps or wankers as Bono said ps in NY when Bono was in hospital and the others tree Larry Adam and David played on a truck in the Time Square,i accepted the Boss but not Chris Martin, as Muse in Glasto accepted The Edge.
  4. I only like the first 3 albums..
  5. Oceans is probably the best song they've put out in a long time.

Still can't get over this song. It's like it was written to be catchy, when that's not what they should really be writing at this point.

It's funny, I listened to this and then Songs of Innocence on my lunch-hour walk, and despite how the general public feel about U2, Songs of Innocence is most definitely not "casual" music.
  6. It seems like a lot of people here don't really like this song. After my first listen, I will say it has gotten me interested in the musical direction they are taking. It feels like it could have come right off of Mylo Xyloto, but there is a lot of the older Coldplay style that was absent from MX.

As far as lead singles go it's not super strong like Magic was, but it definitely could have been worse. For example, after listening to Muse's Psycho I was about 95% decided on ignoring all of Drones. Fortunately, I heard Mercy and it piqued my interest again.

In response to people saying that Ghost Stories was not a strong album, I will say that Ghost Stories is the most thematically and musically complete and cohesive album Coldplay released and by virtue of that alone it's probably one of their top albums for me.

I really like Ghost Stories, for the reason you mention. Let's see about this new album. They're still a good band. The world needs good elevator music

Most of what people consider to be "classic Coldplay" qualifies as elevator music, to be honest. They didn't really break from that mold until Viva La Vida.
  9. The (elevator) music seemed original with the first two albums. Yes, it was sappy but, to me, it seemed like a good evolution from say a band like Travis.

For whatever reason, Coldplay remained popular but I didn't feel the music got any better. This new song is no exception.

Enough CP bashing from me...it's getting me in trouble on the Pesrl Jam site.

(I'll say one thing, U2 fans are much more civilized than many PJ ones).
  10. Saw a comment on Youtube today describing is as like the music to FIFA computer game. Try as they might they will never have an Achtung Baby moment
  11. so many hot takes
