1. Sad news, indeed.
  2. Very sad news ...hard to believe
  3. Such sad news. Much respect to Bowie. Like my favorite, Prince, he had tons of different sounding material and styles. I was not really a fan, but owned a few of the 80's albums anyways. I loved Modern Love. 'Space Oddity' became a favorite due to it's incredible place in the 360 tour. Probably my favorite opening of any U2 tour...both the segue into Soon, and EBTTRT. Such an incredible song, and so powerful...it really was like liftoff into the 360 tour...It's probably time to get more into his material. I always loved the long form confusing but cute video for "Blue Jean." Such a great pop song that many Bowie fans dismissed but I always loved.
  4. His music will live forever and so, therefore, will he. Sad news, but we're fortunate he existed. Take it easy, David, and thanks for everything.
  5. David Bowie made being different cool, his music will live forever. The music world has lost one of it's greats.....R.I.P Mr Starman
  6. Ground Control to Major Tom , RIP David
  7. another legend leaves... goodbye, david.
  8. 'Planet Earth is Blue'

U2 responds to the sad news of the death of David Bowie.

'As a teenager,' Bono says, 'Bowie was our Elvis. They shared the same birthday and they both took music somewhere no one thought it could go. It was his otherworldliness that took us all away. A sense that we are not just earth bound creatures...'

'The impact that Bowie had on the culture was immense,' says Edge.' Next to the Beatles he stands as the most influential artist of all time. He truly altered the course of music history.'

Willie Williams, U2's Show Director, remembered working with Bowie for three years.
'It was the personal things that were most impressive. He seemed to be acutely aware that some people (particularly Brits about my age) might likely become catatonic in his presence and genuinely went out of his way to put them at ease.
'We were all there when he pointed at us from Top of the Pops, suggesting that there might be more interesting plans for life than the ones mum & dad had in mind... the inspiration to send your old self into outer space and make up a new one.'

  10. Listening to the album "Station to Station" right now in his honor. My favorite of his - "Word on a Wing" and his cover of "Wild is the Wind" blow me away. Incredible.
  11. I only knew hours later... Really touched by this.
For some reason it suddenly became very real Bono will leave us one day...
