  2. When they turn off all the lights to show off those Xylobands... I can only imagine being in GA to experience that. Rumor has it that the Xylobands will be returning for the upcoming tour and I really hope it's true!

  5. The Xylobands almost bankrupt them last time. No idea why they would recycle them. Sort of suggests they are running out of ideas, which is a continuing theme in the Coldplay camp - on record and in a live setting.
  6. The Xylobands bankrupted them last time because they didn't really know how to effectively implement it. A lot of their interviews on the topic seemed to suggest that the Xylobands were roughly birthed from the idea that the audience should be a part of the show. Personally, this aspect is what really set apart MX from pretty much every other live show going on at the time. I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to implement something similar because their current tour format is actually very low budget, maybe even more so than U2's IE Tour as you'll get more returns in investment from playing stadiums versus arenas.


    With Coldplay, the issue was never that they were running out of ideas. In fact, every album release since Viva suggests the exact opposite. Whether or not the albums have been good boils down to personal preference, but it should be fair to say that Coldplay's last few albums have all been distinctly different musical experiences while everything prior to Viva is nearly identical.
  7. According to NME, Coldplay spent about 4.22 million British Pounds on the Xylobands (roughly 6 million US Dollars). Their revenue was 35 million Pounds (50 million USD), so the amount spent on the Xylobands was very significant at over 10% of their total revenue, but it certainly wasn't going to bankrupt them. I think their numbers would have looked a lot better if they didn't cancel their South American Leg, which many suggest they did so due to tour fatigue.
