1. This site is a prime example of what he is talking of,dont be so naive and think that people are just sharing the file's, lot of people are downloading from this site and selling them for profit ,go into any 2nd hand record shop and you will see the vast increase of live bootlegs from u2 since this site started, ask any of them where they get there bootlegs from and its from HERE.so my advice is download as much as you can before its shut down.

i'd ask you to prove that. It takes a twat to sell stuff from here but it takes a bigger twat to buy mp3's of live shows when the stuff can be sourced for free and in higher quality elsewhere. You may see the likes of Silver CD's etc in some small record shops but mp3 CD's of live bootlegs? I doubt this site has anything to do with your alleged increase of bootleg sales and even IF there was a link then our conscience is clean. All the stuff here is non-commercial and only here because the taper of the shows made the decision themselves to upload their recordings so if someone downloads bootlegs from here to sell (stupid as it is) then thats down to the individual.

There are no legal grounds (yet) to shut this site down

Can you not say anything positive?

Agreed. And it also takes an idiot to buy a bootleg, when you can find them all over the net.

    Well said.
  6. Come to Dublin and see for yourself, their is several shops that deal soley with bootlegs ,look at the U2 section and see for yourself I know one shop for a fact that downloads them from here,Just because its live doesnt mean its not stealing ,If U2 decide to release a live album this site would affect sales as a lot of people would already have it from here,So this site will be one of the first to go,if the internet police get their way.

What a big load of bollocks. Sorry, but it is. I would guarantee that over 90% of the regular users on here will own everything official U2 have released and will have paid for it. In addition we all have a mountain of bootlegs. I own the bootlegs of Slane, Mexico Popmart, Paris JT, Boston Elevation, Chicago Vertigo, Milan Vertigo. I also own the official DVD/CD's of these shows.

If U2 decided to release a live album, we would very nearly all buy it in a flash. And we represent the hardcore fanbase. Anyone who wouldn't buy it wouldn't buy it anyway as they're cheap scabs.

Remy and the other people who co-ordinate this site cannot be held accountable for what some hawker in Dublin does in his/her lame-ass shop. If they didn't get it here they'd find it somewhere else. And we don't charge a penny.

If this site is so bad, what are you doing on here? Piss off and post your negative comments somewhere else please. We're all quite happy so leave us to it.

Your point has no validity, sorry. How is it our fault if someone is selling bootlegs? They can be found all over the web. And if someone is a big enough fan to want bootlegs, chances are they own all of the CDs/DVDs, etc. I own all of the Cds/Dvds, the complete U2, etc, but I still have the bootlegs. I own Under A Blood Red Sky, but I also have the bootleg of the Complete Red Rocks show.

Shutting down sites like U2start is not going to stop piracy. People have been selling Bootlegs (Copies of official material) for years. People will still make copies of official CDs and sell them on the street.

And also, we don't share official material here. We've closed many topics in the past few months. Why don't you read our house rules to see where we stand on illegal activities, such as sharing official material?

I still don't understand why you're here, you've done nothing but insult us. Either change the attitude or Leave.

While you're right to say that the internet has helped to spread pirated official releases, I would turn it the other way round for boots. I think that the internet has helped to minimize the pirate market for them.
You might be right when you say that this site could affect sales of future live releases. It's pretty unlikely, though. A bootleg will never have the quality of an official release. Just one example: the boots on this site are lossy, official releases are lossless, also they will be mastered much better. And, don't forget that, as long as no official release exists, no bootleg is illegal.
Also, U2start came to life pretty late, there are many other sites that share unofficial recordings for years, so pointing at this very site isn't really fair.
I will admit that, since there's no official statement of the band regarding bootlegs, we're in a legal grey area with U2 bootlegs, though.

Fuck me. We know people sell bootlegs for profit. I'm not, as are others, naive.

Go to Interference.com and check out their Music Downloads section. I think they'll be closed down first with all the official stuff they're requesting.

    "FUCK OFF!"
