The repeal of NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND!!!?????
My daughter has a mild disorder and the only reason she gets the therapy she needs is
because of no child left behind.
Honestly neither Obama nor HIllary are any different from the other candidates......
I think I'll just vote for McCain - the lesser of many evils.....
I meant no disrespect to your daughter or to anyone who has been assisted by the act. I think the intent of issuing it was certainly admirable, and for those it has helped, like your daughter, that's fantastic. The repercussions of it, though, especially here in Massachusetts, have really strayed from its originally intent. It's a pendulum--before, kids with cognitive disorders were "left behind," and now the pendulum has swung the other way where kids without disorders are the ones being left behind. I saw it in the school I taught at, and my mom, who works with kids with autism, sees it everyday--the kids with various learning disabilities are essentially being babied to the point that they're not being challenged to their full pontential, and neither are the kids without learning disabilities. It's really an awful, awful system.
There's also the absurd amount of mandatory standardized testing initiated by the act that disrupted all ofthe curriculum for us teachers, and subsequently put the kids at a disadvantage also--but that's another discussion entirely...
Again, I meant no disrespect to you or your daughter--I'm glad she's aided by the act. I do think it needs to be repealed completely, however, if we're going to stop what myself and many teachers and parents see as this pendulum.
