1. We need another tour with alter egos, perhaps w/ the fly, mcpshisto and co. Then i'll listen to some of the speeches again. Might be off-topic, maybe. Bono excited the crowd each night during Zoo TV and PopMart. During Elevation they changed up some things, which ot some extent I enjoyed.

    Here's where I got lost:

What's with Bono trying to look like Bono then decided to commando or something in this clip:

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=Xs4VqAeZfaY&feature=related

Just curious, is Edge playing an acoustic in that song? Check out 0:11, and I'm confused why it looks like the center is hollow. I know it's electric, but I'm lost here. Anyway...

Bono, it's ok to talk about peace and love and helping out, but change it up man! It's a rock 'n' roll show, not a play! Just memorize the words to the songs, not your speeches. Be spontaneous! The fans also love the alter egos too.

    Just my two cents

by the way..... What's with Bono going with the John Lennon look lately?

    well said!

First, his voice throughout all of Vertigo was just subpar....

next, every show making the same exact speech before Miracle Drug and One of every single show. I mean, Bono of the past was always so spontaneous. the kind of guy you watch and it just gives you chills and drops your jaw because of his raw emotion and spontaneity. For example, the end of Bullet on Elevation...I mean every show he changed up what he was saying. I know some people say a lot of their live show is rehearsed but from a musicians standpoint, it is not.

Now, with his activism...Its great that he is making a difference and I def. think he should keep doing it, however don't let it interfere with the real reason you are who you are. I'm all for making a difference if you have a voice, but its just too much. Hes shoving this in our faces and preaching to us.

Even larry Adam and Edge were saying how it was getting to be a bit much toward the latter part of Vertigo. I agree with them. They are in U2 and completely committed to making the best music they can possibly make.

I just don;t think B-man is into it anymore.

Lastly, reading all these articles about his activism..Anyone notice he says the same things. Its always the same quotes. At least be refreshing. How many more times can I hear about the trip to Ethiopia he took with Ally right after Live Aid...ahhhh

    Just venting

You'r right, I also share your point of view, but we who are his fans, don't care very much about his activism, what we really like of him is voice and his way of singing. When I listen to the u2 lives,at the very moment in which Bono makes his usual speeches, Isend forward the CD....it's the onlyway I know for ignoring what he says.

  4. I was fed up to but then I saw him last night from 6 inches distance. He is now thee coolest shit talker on the planet

I'm remembering this moment something from Point Dublin shows from LoveTown...

Bono said something like: "They say it's only rock'n'roll...but is it?"

No, it's not, it never was when there is U2 on the stage.

    U2...
  10. No Bono, no U2
  11. Getting back to the initial post I've gotta say yes, Bono was getting awfully preachy on the Vertigo show's. I missed that tour and listening to the shows I felt, well, put off by it. I'm sure if you were there it might not have been so bad because you get caught up in the live experience.

I remember seeing the Joshua Tree tour when I was 20 and loved all the rebellion and activism. Maybe now because I'm older and have my own problems I just want to escape for a little bit. I Thought the Zoo TV tour had just enough "message" if you will.

That just got to me today too...I watched Streets from slane (for the 13858382nd time) and just loved the energy of it, and also the lights and everything...then I watched the vertigo buenos aires version of streets, the crowd is amazing, but that little "mississippi" speech and the flags (ow dear lord...the flags) kinda ruined it.

BTW...do you mean you're 40 years old now? Oldest member?
